If you mean a remake i.e. a completely new game that's based on the setting and the storyline of the original game, I'm not sold. I mean: why not, I'll check it out and who knows, it may turn out alright but I wouldn't hold my breath. The demo for the remake of Gothic 1 didn't really blow me away, to put it mildly.

because the demo was made with something i would call heresy, the mentality to "reinterpret" the story.

if we would talk about remaking the game on a newer modern engine with the story, the dialogue and the visual design of characters and items as well as the admosphere intact i would be in favor of a remake.

the good thing here is though that the demo essentially was a test and they took thair lessons out of it and will stay way closer to the original with the actual remake according to a german potcast with one of the developers.

Agreed, of course! But that would actually be little more than a remaster.

Let's hope so. But I remember the last time a lot of promises were made by a studio other than PB. "Don't worry, we know what the fans want!", "Rest assured, this game is going to ooze the Gothic atmosphere like you wouldn't believe it!", "We're fans of the Gothic games ourselves, so we know what makes a good Gothic game!", and so on... and we ended up with "Arcania (Gothic 4)" So I'm willing to keep an open mind and eventually check out what this developer will create, but I'm NOT getting my hopes up again before they've actually created a game that's genuinely worthy of the Gothic name.

Remake or Remaster does not matter as long as the BS that is Dragon fights and G2 Gold difficulty gets not reworked.
