FOV messed up
Game is zoomed in (hero's legs not visible). I have re-installed the usual patches several times (system pack, playerkit and gothic2 fix) and my search for a widescreen patch ended in 8 year old forum posts with an expired download link.

To anyone having this issue: I solved this by re-installing system pack and choosing the english language version, no idea why but that fixed the problem.
