Insanely hard
This game, with the notr add on, is stupidly hard. I am a level 2 with leather armor and a wolf dagger thing. The most i can take on is two giant rats or 2-3 goblins. There is a 50/50 chance of killing a single wolf because of their attack pattens. It isn't even possible to defeat a single bandit when it takes 20-30 hits to kill them and sometimes take almost all my health in one hit while other times i can take 10 or so. The ones in the lighthouse are even more powerfull and are a garentee one shot. And is it just me, or is parrying not an option? Everyone seems to attack instantly with no build up or chance to parry apart from mashing the button.

I honestly agree with the OP, the game is very difficult, and it's cause of the expansion. I remember when I originally bought 2 and while I had my moments of fumble/failure, I was for the most part fine, the only REAL challenge at this time was the valley of mines in the first visit. If I remember correctly, the fanbase complained how easy the game was so the creators included NotR to be as difficult as they can make it, while still be playable.

With the expansion, everything got a massive power up (Except some wildlife,) while I was nerfed. It's not impossible to play, but it is much more unforgiving. You gotta spend your LP smarter, take advantage of most of the escort missions, and try not to pick a fight with every citizen because they are somehow lvl 20's. But when you do rise up as the badass, it's all the more satisfying because it feels like a greater achievement. Learning how to fight properly in this is also essential and I can't stress that enough.

Archers are arguably the OP of the 3 core builds (Melee, Range, or Magic) since they can just keep working up Archery and Dexterity and find swords needing DEX that boost 1 handed skill too. I seen Archer players effortlessly kill tough monsters but not as many melee types.

I made a guide awhile back that includes tips on getting extra EXP, how to get jobs easily and a handful of helpful tips. The comment section in it is also filled with friendly players adding their own tips and tricks.

Edit: You can't block/parry wildlife attacks. As for NPC's, it's about the timing and flow. Alot of NPC's have a consistant attack flow that once you get an idea on, can usually time your attacks and parry properly.

Don't play the tough guy, this game is hard and whoever says otherwise is either crazy or lying.

Yep, NotR expansion did break the balance in this game, that's indisputable. I literally sucked d*cks until I laid my hands on the Claw of Beliar and that's pretty much the mid-game. I lost count of how many times I had to abuse the quicksave until then. But the game is still one of the best and worth it.

Yeah, once you get the Claw of Beliar then the game becomes slightly easier as it's a very powerful weapon and I usually try and get it before I set off to the Valley of Mines in chapter 2. That way I have no problems with most monsters there and some single orcs.

Is this one harder than G1? Because I haven't found that one overly difficult, it seemed pretty logical to me (I got better -> fights got easier).

Yes it is, u cant just parry animals u have to dodge by backstepping, ai is generally a bit better and the game itslef is a bit more balanced, like u will become god around chap 5 and not before like in g1.Talking of g2 notr ofc

I haven't repaired the eye of Innos yet and i already am a god, i two shot orc warriors. Really it's only the first chapter that's stupidly hard. The problem is theres not enough low lvl mobs to get level up quickly, you have to use tricks like transforming into dragon snapper.

Are u playing g2 or g2 gold/notr? Cus it seems strange that u can bishot orcs before chap 4, unless u killed everything in all the zones and you maxed strenght idk. If you are playing normal g2 that makes a lot of sense tho

In the valley of mines you can lure orcs to the Catapult/castle entrance (i dont know the name) and they wont attack you and you can kill them. You can kill nearly every orc outside the castle in chapters 2 and 4 and get lots of experience for free.

In the first gothic i kill the first templar inside the old mine (the one near the entrance) in chapter 1 and with his powerful sword i defeat kirgo and kharim and if you join the old camp you can defeat scar and get his powerful sword at the beginning of chapter 2.

Also in gothic 2 make sure to use multiple save files. I use one in the middle of a difficult fight for example. Whenever i make a succesful hit i save again. But if i screw up and save in a bad situation i load the save file before the fight and try again

You need to be patient, just like in Dark Souls, you need to work really hard for XP and upgrade the Nameless Hero so that you even have a chance against the weak enemies.I wouldn't recommend going out into the forest at level 2, I suggest starting with some miscellaneous quests heres some easy to do quests.

1.Catch the thieve- Go to the market place and talk to the male weapons dealer right by the gate.

2. Start the missing people quest-You'll get it from Vatras, and you just talk to people, the more you talk to the more XP you'll get at the end. If you find out what happened to the missing, go to the people who were looking for them, you get additional 50 XP.

If you really want to explore and feel kinda confident have two relatively safe suggestions.

1. Go to the hunter near the Temple of Adanos, He'll tell you how to skin animals so you can make more money and XP. He'll tell you about his apprentice, whose outside the city guard quarter by the drinks stand. You can offer him to go out hunting together. For a little while you'll be in the forest killing wolves and blood files, with will let you kill more enemies and gain more XP. BUT he will ask you at some point "do you want to go further?" SAY NO, there are high level enemies head.

2. If you leave a the gate were the market place is next to the guard quarter, there is a guard standing outside, he will offer you his services as extra help for I think 50 gold. He's also useful if you want to go out exploring.

You can always us MARVIN as well if you don't want to work for XP, it is cheating but its your game and you play how you want :)

I disagree. If you say yes the hunter will kill a shadowbeast and an orc scout which gives you good exp and the orc weapon can be given to the blacksmith to get his approval and extra xp.

Yea its better to say yes, bartok will eventually kill the orc but if he dies, just keep trying (save after u said yes).
