which are the best mods for gothic 2??

the problem is that i cant find guides for gothic 2

Hey there since g2 modding kit causes problems with multiple g2 mods throughout the years modder did tend to make one big mod for their game. You can still install several, but it might cause problem when you want run them seperately. Here are the ones I tried and want to suggest:

1. D3D11 texture edit. This one is pretty much a mod that allows you to use better textures and enables you to play the game in high resolutions. I have seen reso. as high as 4k with a tiny mod that enables you to make the fonts bigger.

2. L'hiver mod. This one changes a lot of things in terms of appearance and balance in the game and adds some small regions here and there to the game. I recommend using this without the d3d11 since it bring with it many light and dark textures that make the game more atmospheric.

3. Returning mod(version 2 or 1.28). This is a mod for experienced players only and adds pretty much whole regions as big as valley of mines to the game. The game continues after you beat the normal game. You will have new factions, new weapons, regions .... and even endurance added to the game.

4. Im Auftrag des Königs. Only recommended if you know german. Total conversion mod.

I played a combination of d3d11 and l'hiver. Didnt try the triple one. I didnt use vurt's overhaul so cant comment on that.

Returning 2.0 gives you the option to install d3d11 as well. I do not know the compatibility of vurtz with those. You have to do some digging I suppose.

You really should try total convertion mod: Odyssee, its also in english aviable and its amazing!!! Odyssee should be Gothic 3 :)

If you dont mean Patches, nevermind but if you installed G2 new and have Performance and Resolution Issues i absolutely recommend you to install the Gothic 2 Systempack.

I don't recommend you to play Returning Mod because :
1. Pretty much bugs.
2. Hard to play.
3. Sometimes there is no logic by doing quests. You have to use forums to complete them.
4. You have to play almost only with forums on your ALT+TAB.

I have played Returining 2,0 v064 on medium and hard. I can recommend you to play with D3D11 with Night Of The Raven.

1) Archolos - difficulty is a bit too easy, but not bugged, good story
2) Returning 2.0 - makes G2 3 times longer with many new locations, probably the most interesting mode to play, much harder than Gothic 2 even on normal mode. Big downside is - too many bugs, I had a bug that would not let me continue after like 200 hours of play, bug would not let me enter a location.
3) Odyssey 2.7.2 - new story, playing now, normal difficulty is harder than Gothic 2. Even more bugs and glitches, screen friezings every 30-60 min.
