Gothic II: Gold Classic

Gothic II: Gold Classic

Do I still need to learn how to get dragon scales and dragon blood as a mercenary?
Most of the guides I'm reading seem outdated (pre-NotR), so I'm wondering if I even need these things anymore. It doesn't seem like forged weapons are the best anymore, and I think that's where the dragon's blood came in.

The scales were for the medium dragon hunter's armor (but not the heavy?), so perhaps that is still a requirement for the armor.

Anyone know for sure if I need either or both of these skills to get the DH armor? I don't think I need the ore weapon. It doesn't seem better than the Dragon Slicer.

Thanks!

That's the only class you ABSOLUTELY NEED to learn it. If you want better armor and weapons you're gonna need dragon scales and dragon blood.

But what are they used for? Unless the one NotR guide I'm using is also outdated, it doesn't look like any forged weapons are better than the Dragon Slicer. Do I need blood for anything else other than forging weapons?

The scales I guess are for the armor, so unless that has changed from vanilla Gothic, I suppose I do need to learn that one.

I'm just not sure about the blood.

Dragon scales for medium armor. You can give them to either Jan or Bennet for them to make you the armor. Bennet pays you 200 gold per scale, so, if you want the gold, go back to Khorinis after collecting 20 dragon scales and give them to Bennet for the armor. Jan doesn't pay you ♥♥♥♥ for the scales and still wants the same amount of money that Bennet would want for the armor.

Dragon blood is needed for the weapons. Making the last tier Dragon Hunter weapons requires dragons blood. Difference between the Dragon slicer and The large ore dragon slayer is that the ore weapons gives you bonus skill to two handed weapons while the dragon slicer gives you 10 damage more.

Thanks. So it sounds like I don't need the blood, but I still need the scales. Good to know!

How far apart do you get the medium and heavy armor? Is it a waste of gold to get the medium if you're just going to upgrade it soon?

You need 20 scales for the medium armor, so that means 2 dragons.

I mean the gold cost. Isn't it a lot?

I've always been swimming in cash in this game. No matter whose apprentice I become and which guild I join.

Hmm, so far I've got just over 20k, but that seems like it would go fast by the time I buy these two armors. Maybe by then I'll have a lot more.

dont bother with medium dragon-hunter armor, wait for the heavy version is the way to go. You'll definitely need dragon blood, but just sell dragon scale as it's only needed for med-dragon hunter armor, and it worth alot

What do I need dragon blood for if I don't forge? Or is there something worth forging better than the Dragon Slicer?

No, dragonblood is use exclusively to create weapon afaik, Bennet can teach you magic ore weapon and the best one is 10 damage lower than dragonslicer but it gives you +10 bonus 2h skill. IMO the +10 2h talent is definitely worth more

I'm already easily at 100% in 2H skill, so that won't matter for me. I guess I can skip the dragon blood.

then go for dragon slicer, it's easily the best overall weapon in the game. Great reach, great damage and look badass too

Thanks. I'll see about skipping the medium armor too. Depends what it costs, I guess.

Ironically, I got the light DH armor (for free!) before I even had a chance to buy the heavy mercenary armor, so I guess it's possible to skip some of them.
