Need help with Dragons
I am in the 4th chapter and I'm paladin. I have save game and started that chapter but I got stuck at the swamp dragon. I've tried to talk with it. But when combat begins, it rapidly gains health. I can't kill it. Same thing happens in Stone Dragon too. What should I do?

I advise getting yourself a few 'Summon Demon' spell scrolls and use those for whenever you need to fight a dragon. They live long enough the keep the dragon busy allowing you to kill them before they regenerate their health.

It's been a while but I believe you can buy a few scrolls from the mage at the brewery room at the monastery, first door on your right.

Thanks but i want to fix that health regen problem and want to solo fight. If i can't find another way to kill it, I will try summon demons and skells.

Well the dragons will always regenerate health. And Piranha Bytes themselves admit that the dragon fights are pretty trash. The fire breath knocks you back which forces you to exploit the bug of sidestepping when you get hit by that,so that you don't get knocked down.Fighting the dragons alone at chapter 4 is pretty hard,so I suggest just using a stone golem to take away the dragons attention and then hit them yourself.
I have a couple of questions,though:
1)Which weapon are you using?
2)What is your skill with the type of said weapon?
If you aren't using the Sword of the Order or something equally good, you won't have a good time.I remember that Beliars claw is pretty imba, but I always give it to the WM because I don't like it.
As a mage the only way to actually kill the dragons is with summons or high damage level spells like fire rain, because the 4th Circle spells are pretty bad. Also maybe there is a mod which will make the dragons not regen their health, but that would make the fights pretty bad.If you are using a strong weapon it would mean that they would die from 10 crits or something.

They put in the dragon health regen in Gothic 2 Night of the Raven because the players complained about the dragon fights were too easy in the classic version of Gothic 2.

They are still too easy, though. A fight against a dragon should put you on edge and take everything from you. But instead you just summon a demon or golem and the fight is over a few seconds after it has started.

If you can't fight the swamp dragon which is the easiest of all the dragons then you will have no fun against all the other dragons.

I am using Fine Bastard Sword and it has 110 dmg. I am master lvl at one-handed swords. I have good dmg. Normally it takes 3 hit to kill lizardmans. I have no problem with the damage. I can kill the dragon if it not heal quickly. It looks i have to use demon, golem and skells.

Skeletons die too easily,so use Golems or Demons.

Edit:Or Ice wave. That freezes the dragon in one spot and makes the fight pretty quick.

I get it that you are frustrated. But Gothic 2 is supposed to be a hardcore RPG and not Skyrim. So dragons are supposed to be the hardest opponents. Even if they are not for most players.

110 damage is not so much for the hardest opponents if you know there are many better swords in the game. May I ask why you don't use Claw of Beliar which does magical extra damage every now and then? You have to pray on a shrine of Beliar and improve the weapon, though.

As Paladin you learn your spells from Albrecht in Khorinis.

Besides that you can always use scrolls.

The runes that you do get are for healing and damage as well. The damage is pretty pointless since you have a high damage weapon with high weapon skill.Heal is pretty solid, though,so get that.

I did give Claw Of Beliar WM. Then i will gain strength and use more damaged weapons. Thanks for the help.
Sugar Jan 20, 2017 @ 5:27am
Since you're a paladin you might just want to get the one handed ore sword from Bennet in Khorinis and then consecrate it over at the shrine in the monastery. It requires 100 strength and deals 100 damage, but after the consecration it will deal 120 and with the last consecration it will deal 140.
Of course you could switch to two-handers.The two-handed ore sword from Bennet requires 120 strength to use.Damage is the same as the one handed +20.You can consecrate it as well.
First consecration costs 5000 gold, though so make sure you're not strapped of cash. You will get something later on in the game to consecrate it a second time.

I have so much gold. I will try bennet swords then. Do you have more offer for me? :)
Sugar Jan 20, 2017 @ 5:57am
Well, the one handed sword is the best one which you can get as a paladin.Bennet won't teach you how to make the best ones, because you're not a mercenary(Noticed that I mixed Bennet and Harad up.On the previous post I meant Harad, not Bennet)
In comparisson the two-hander isn't the best even after consecrating it twice. It's still good, but if you can get 160+ strength might as well use the Dragon Slicer for more efficiency.
If you're at 110 strength and have already used all consumables(stone tablets, strength potions, apples, stews)to increase your strength I'd say go for the one-handed sword which Harad can sell you and use that, increase your one-handed weapon skill to 80-90% so that pretty much every hit is a crit and whatever you have left put in strength(and get the healing runes from Albrecht).

Edit:Harad can sell you ONLY 1 sword(either the one hander or the two hander) so be certain when you chose which one to get.
