Difference between combat modes?

Gothic 1 combat in the menu seems to be the only one documented, but feels worse than when I disable it.

Only issues is I cant do any attacks besides the right attack!

In gothic 1 controls I just press a movement key and attack, but not this.

I have found 0 info online, even the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ manual for how to use it. Help. I don't want to use the gothic 1 combat controls.

The melee fighting is the same. Left mouse click+ forward,left,right for attack and left mouse+ back for blocking. The action is better you can talk and pick up thing with only a click now. Trading is also faster.

It definitely isn't, even when using control instead of mouse click method it doesn't work while playing in Gothic 2's combat mode, at least on my pc.

Guess I have to use Gothic 1 combat since I pretty much pressed every key and the only way it works is by using the page keys in G2 combat...

It is either the mouse 1 button or left ctrl. I dont recall any other method of interacting or fighting in the games. Left ctrl is terrible your pinky finger hurts a lot after a couple of hours.

Usually on double tap backwards and change of direction should be enough. You can assign weapons or scrolls to 1 2 3 4 ..., never had problems or you can click and hold space and scrolls though your selections. The melee and interaction mechanics take some time to get used to, but once you get the hang of it, they become prett easy. The fighting is supposed to be challeging in early stages of the game so dont expect to overcome every dude you meet.

Forget your mouse and play with keyboard only. Mouse was only implemented very late and that is the reason why mouse control sucks. BTW you will never be as good in fights with mouse as you could be with keyboard only.
