Gothic 3

Gothic 3

Keyboard won't work in Gothic 3
Game starts fine and I can use Esc key to go into menu but keyboard controls do nothing. Can't move, jump, use weapons or anything. Mouse seem ok. I am using 64bit Windows 10. I have tried running as administrator and Windows XP comp mode as well . Nothing works.

Any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated.

Did you install the game as normal or did you use the steam beta branch?

If you installed as regular, did you install the Comunity Patch v1.75? Download link - http://www.worldofgothic.de/dl/download_478.htm

Might aswell try the unofficial update for the patch, but install it at your own risk: http://www.worldofgothic.de/dl/download_523.htm

I updated windows 10 computer at work and the scanner won't work anymore - stuff happens...
Windows 10 is new and seems to be wery... experimental, with it's forced updates...

There was a thread about a mouse not working, but there hasn't been any updates in a while... - http://steamcommunity.com/app/39500/discussions/0/458605613397248546/

What steam update? The base game is still the old version 1.6.something, and you ought to upgrade to v1.75.14 plus additional bug-fixes such as the mouse-in-inventory fix:

Will my save file delete if I download this patch?
The game won't delete any save files, but your setting of the two modes "Alternative Balancing (AB)" and "Alternative AI" decide on whether savegame files will be compatible.

What bugfix should I install exactly?
The mentioned guide covers the two upgrade options to v1.75.14 plus at least the extra mouse-in-inventory fix. I don't recommend extra content mods, since they may introduce extra bugs and/or reduce the experience during a first playthrough.

In my case, the game was working fine until at some point in time keyboard just stopped working as described in the OP.

After tweaking compatibility modes and running as administrator, the keyboard issue was solved but I cannot be sure what fixed it or if it was a coincidence.

Never installed any mods.

I've used a Win7 compatability mode + run as administartor, it helped

It seems like the newest Windows 10 x64 update caused this problem.
I confirm that running game as admin in a compatibility mode for Win7 solves the problem.
Thanks guys:
