Gothic 3

Gothic 3

What are the best mods to use for a complete playthrough?
Even though everyone says G3 is the worst Gothic game (which im sure it is) i still wanna play it.
However i'd like to use any enhancement mods i can in terms of graphics and lighting and such and maybe even some community fixes with the combat

Everything you find inside are the basic patches that you need to have to make your gameplay easier and more varied.

Additionally, you can add modifications that enrich the game with new quests or items, such as Content Mod 3.1, Quest Pack 4.2 or LTM. But that's the other side of the coin.

If I were you, I would concentrate on the fundamentals and play the game unmodified, leaving the mods for a second playthrough.

Not everyone says that.

It certainly isn't "the worst Gothic game". Afterall, the first two games aren't flawless, and only Gothic 3 introduced the next generation Genome engine which implemented a true seamless open world. On top of that, the magicians in Gothic 3 are the most entertaining ones of the three games. Mana regeneration as a skill paired with seeking missile spells and devastating high-level AoE spells. Amazing options for gameplay.

Especially when applying the CPT's major patch to bring the game to version 1.75.14, be sure to skim over the PDF manual that covers the combat & balancing modifications, which can be toggled before starting a new game:

gothic 3 isn't a bad game, it's only a bad game until you have it patched and fixed enough that its playable. Lots of areas to do, quests to do, monsters to fight, etc. For the most part people complain about the major problems (lag, flickering trees and areas,) which usually can be fixed easy with the patches, and minor problems (bad hit boxes, no mini maps, no quest markers, slipping on every rock, branch and hill you run into, etc) and those sadly you just have to live with.

Believe me, melee is horrible, archery is easy and basic but manually aiming and bad hit boxes are a pain, but easy to raise and abuse and boring. Magic takes a while to get going but basically once you learn mana regen and get a little mana pool under your belt its pretty easy to waste anything, even on alternate play and hard mode. Your still a magic god about by level 30 with just 2 spells, one single target spell and 1 AOE spell for group.

Well, that honour belongs to Arcania. Gothic III is just the second worst. 😉
