We rely on word of mouth for advertising this game. We don't have a publisher and we're completely independent. We're a small indie company and not Disney. It is harder for us to get the word out - so it is up to everyone who enjoys the game to spread the word.
We have been pushing out sizable free updates such as the new Workshop Sound Emitter update and we have the Minigolf editor on the way. You can read about our plans for the future of the game here: https://steamcommunity.com/games/394690/announcements/detail/4195745800832999942?snr=2___
If you love this game, like we do, please spread the word to friends who would enjoy this game.
If you really want to benefit from word-of-mouth advertising then start treating moderation more seriously and respect your players, in return they will respect you.
With over 5000 hours I've invested in the game, I can confirm the game is not what it used to be, and many players have moved onto VRChat.
Currently, the moderation team is lacking the maturity and proper decision-making, often enforcing their own political agendas by banning those opposing it.
As a result, long-time supporters of the game who previously promoted it have now left their own negative reviews onto the current 2000, some amassing thousands of hours.
These reviews consistently mention issues such as the low player count, infrequent updates, unfair bans, and the moderation teams refusal to provide evidence when requested.
PixelTail is actually closer to Disney than you think, the company has already reached that level of unfamiliarity with the fans and are currently losing more faith by the day.
This disconnect began during the Garry's Mod days when the leading developer disrespected dedicated fans who were willing to go to great lengths to support him.
As a result, word-of-mouth promotion is rendered ineffective, leaving Tower Unite stagnant. As MacDGuy has mentioned, the game relies heavily on word-of-mouth, meaning it will never truly succeed under these circumstances.
To address these issues, consider management courses in areas such as conflict resolution and communication. While Macs leadership appears to be solid, some other areas need attention to rebuild trust and improve the overall player experience.
The difference is clear. Mac is independent, and Sega & Square Enix, more so, are bigger.
I'm still enjoying Tower. Just need people to play with because achievements.
While that's true it hasn't lost 3 digits yet. It hasn't seen 4 digits in 4 years. It got close to getting that a year ago by a shy of 200 players missing. But this game is seeing a decline not incline.
Word-of-mouth isn't helping anymore. In fact it's doing the opposite. There's negative steam reviews from backers who got banned with evidence because the moderation team are the ones instigating entrapment.
I have no qualms with your development cycle. Every week there is a new update what's coming to the game. The emulator and Condo updates have been great.
