The console versions can all play with each other(PS3, PS4 & Vita), but there's no crossplay between PC and console, you're correct.

No, he is correct. Helldivers has no cross play.

Helldivers 2 (which I assume is what you are talking about since you don't have Helldivers) has cross play. He's not wrong; you're talking about the wrong game.

Now that Helldivers 2 have a framework implemented for crossplay - I was thinking it could be much easier to implement in Helldivers by reusing most of this framework.

I was recommended to play this also, so I would appreciate such feature so we could team up PC/PSN.

Helldivers 1 has no crossplay, however, the Galactic Campaign progress is shared (synchronized) across all platforms. PC and PSN players fight the same campaign, but cannot join the same lobby together.
