best stratagems vs illuminates?
i usually pack 2 railgun vs anti armor but illuminates don't have armor units so what should i replace them with?

my usual setup:

weapon: railgun (i'll switch to camper since its more effective vs illuminates)

perk: displacement(dodge snipers and...walls too rite?)

stratagems:

resupply(obvious)
jumping boots(combos well with displacement and 2nd best vs mind control)

Hellfire bombs is maybe something to considerate (they can't go past the wall of fire).

I urge you to try out the sickle or any of the "laser weapons". The beauty about the illuminates, is that they are the "easiest" enemy because every single one of them can be taken down with just your primary, and against an army of targets with mini, fast regenerating shields, a high rate of fire weapon is key, and one that that doesn't require reloading is even better.

My strategems are usually along the lines of
shield generator pack: this gives us a free hit against wizards and, player seeking stun attacks

the walker exosuit: this has a high rate of fire, and protects us from wizards

tesla towers: dropped in front of defense objectives, they can completely deny the enemy access to an area, and since they don't use projectiles, it's even better.

Repair beam: used with Tesla towers, to heal them from damage, you can hold a spot almost indefinitely.

Strafing run/vindicator : great for a quick way to bring down multiple shields for your teammates

Detonator mines/vindicator: good against monoliths.

Any anti-personnel strategem works well against Illuminates such as Strafing Run, Dive Bomb, Close Air Support (DLC, though).

okay then static field can do the job (at least it freeze scouts). It is for soloing right? And like Clutch said maybe you should change for another primary (because of shields). Imo a breaker, or one of the ARs or off course the sickle. Turrets should be placed "out of screen" if you want to use one. the walker I'm not a fan since it's only usefull for "capture point objective" and extraction.

the divebomb is actually working great when the screen gets quickly swarmed by them!

camper is actually working great vs shield and oneshots everything else with a decent aim.

Some people will tell you that the jump pack is utterly useless, and I'd avise you to NOT listen to them. I've done half-a-dozen Helldives with different people, so it's not that many at all and I'm no hardcore player, so take my advice for what it is: my own opinion. But the few Helldives I did that were the easiest, people were mostly using...

Perk : Displacement field or All-Terrain Boots if snow or frustrating terrain

Weapon: Any with a high rate of fire. Sickle is my personnal favorite. I suggest you don't bring a snipey rifle, as it is often meh against shield

Stratagems:
- Something red, to take out large masses on the go. The shields will often resist most of those (for example the Vindicator Dive Bombs) but a now-shieldless swarm of Protoss is easy picking.
- JumpPack. Movement and being quick is key against the Protoss. Being slow and having to fight toe-to-toe means you may get stuck between walls or targeted by laser-snipers without being able to get away. Jumping your way over their walls is often a life-saver.
- Distractor beacon. It seems almost nobody uses them, so be that guy. Dropping one from time to time to get your ennemies far away from your next objective will buy you time and may even make things TOO easy.
- Last one is situational. It's a toss between Ammos, a resupply pack (kinda meh with randoms as people often don't care and just drop their own ammos anyways) or another defensive stratagems, like a turret. If NOBODY brought any AT whatsoever and you have a lot of things to destroy as objective, some AT weapon to destroy ♥♥♥♥ quicker is always nice. The satchel charge is also a nice "oh ♥♥♥♥!" stratagem against masses.

Again, just my opinion. Have fun ! :)

Sickle, Cardio, Satchel Charge, Jetpack, Shredder Missile and a random of your choosing(Mech to help with extraction or UAV for Sample farming). Solo Helldive done easy.
Ojisan 20 DIC 2015 a las 18:22
My primary would be Stalwart (one clip can kill those Illusionist if you just hold fire on it), helps to blast down one wave of those Striders too.

I personally prefer to use the Obsidian Mech, best against Illuminates, SH-20 Shield (prevents mind control when you're on foot), and Resupply ofc for the Stalwart. Last slot I usually reserve for the Shredder in case there's a destroy objective (and for fun blast during extract).

Perk for sure is Cardio no. 1, or All-Terrain boots on snow.

If solo-running, yeah I agree. I didn't write it but yeah, cardio for sure.
If running with randoms, I'm not so sure. There's always someone not using it so it already kinds of nerf it's usefulness, and getting away in groups is also often meh. I think I'd rather go with the displacement field, unless everybody else is on cardio of course. Again just my opinion.

(Also: I hate mechs. :fear:)

In fact, I like to use it more when joining randoms, makes me the sole survivor who always managed to run away while the rest gets mauled down cause getting caught lol.

I don't really like mechs too and won't call them unless we're defending the extract, because I can't trust those turrets in a pub game. Hence why I use SH-20 when I'm on foot.

I can't rely on displacement too much because in pub games there's a high chance your perk gets wasted due to friendly fire. I'll only take that if I'm with my regular team who knows where to point their guns at.
Tiramisu 20 DIC 2015 a las 18:35
Cardio
Breaker
Ammo
Jump pack
Grenade launcher
Something random coz you don't even need the 4th

Grenade launcher tears them all apart. Done.

You can go 2x strafing run if you want an alternative. But grenade launcher is easy mode.

Good points. Against illuminates I rely on the jump pack to get away "last survivor style", so in a way we have the same end goal there.

Taking notes on displacement field, I never actually really thought on how usefull it really is. Will try and keep an eye open on that!

Jetpacks are still really really good tho. Hate those wallers that block you from your team when you're trying to run. :(

not a big fan of ARs but i'll give justice a try to see how it compares vs camper or i might grab that dlc mg :)
