right joystick on controller sticks
so i have a problem that generally ruins the game for me...and thats the controls
...for the controller the right joystick is used to aim in specific directions...and it almost constantly leaves me stuck walking while aiming when i use the right stick...this seems to happen most of the time when i slightly nudge the right stick downwards left.

as for keyboard...i would have liked it if they kept the old magicka system...it was perfect for me as the mouse basically was equivalent to the right stick on the controller...with the free rotation it made it seemless for the K+M...as for helldivers it makes you aim the exact direction your facing...which for me causes disorientation as i have to take time to process where my cursor is...causing a lot of laggy responses to adjust to whats happening..

now i do like the game...its fun but these controls gotta get fixed

".and it almost constantly leaves me stuck walking while aiming when i use the right stick"

I'm confused, you know you can only walk while aiming right? Or do you mean your controller is broken and you are stuck in aiming after using it?

no it constantly sticks me into AIM mode...which is annoying...im aware i can walk but when youre in a firefight and needa get outta there...being stuck in aim mode generally doesnt help

I had the same problem with my 360 controller. It's not that old but it had problems with the deadzone (where nothing should happen when you're not using the stick). So I was also constantly walking/aiming. It would be nice to have some sensitivity settings for the controller.

I also tried the Steam controller. I didn't enjoy the aiming with the trackpad though.
I finally tried the game with the PS4 controller. It's working really well.

well it was released about 9 mths ago on the ps...so of course sony would make it work for their controller...sony are ♥♥♥♥ heads after all but thats no excuse to port over a game and keep the controls like that...it should be fixed...devs now days and just porting games over just cos they need the bit extra cash and cos people are desperate for the games...devs work habits have gone really ♥♥♥♥ now

What are you even talking about? It's clearly an issue with your controller
Chaoz-Theory Dec 13, 2015 @ 3:48am
you do realise there are other people that have that exact same issue...did you even search up that discussion on the steam forums...or you too busy having fun attacking me with it

No I did not because I am not having any issues and you never mentioned other people having the same problem. Still, might just mean their controller anaolog is broken too.

I never attacked anyone, even gave a link with info on how to adjust the 360 controller deadzone for the analog. Have you even tried adjusting the deadzone? What controller are you using?
Chaoz-Theory Dec 13, 2015 @ 5:09am
the corded xbox 360...and my mate even has the exact same issue...there have been reports that the ps controllers work fine and not on xbox...and you cant just say that just cos its been reported that people have the same issue that theyre all having the exact same problem...did you once think that if a lot of people have the same problem that it actually could be the game and not the individuals fault

Hmm. The thing is, a Playstation controller, or any other non-xbox controller, (I'm using PS3 one) is 90% of the time emulated as an xbox controller on pc to make them work properly. They use the same drivers as the xbox controller so I'm not sure what could be the problem. I hope a dev sees this thread and checks it out as I'm curious to what causes the issue then.

dude you havn't use x360 controller right? you said you're using ds3 earlier
calibrate your controller is not the best thing to fix deadzone problem, it's only make it WORSE
x360 controller is WORKING FINE in other games (even there is no deadzone settings)
the main problem is this game controller settings is way too much sensitive and didn't meet the "default deadzone" that x360 have.

I asked because it might have solved the issue temporarily until the devs fix it (they are looking into the problem). Never said it would work, I asked if he tried it. The PS3 controller emulates the xbox controller so I don't see why there would be such a difference since it uses the same drivers

best thing to do at this point is just lie patient until patch day...and hopefully it gets fixed...if the devs figure it out...i still believe they should just use the magicka style of K+M...i had a bug on helldivers last night where my mouse cursor was stuck on the whole match and it made the game so seamless as i always knew where im aiming at...that was a fun game...while it lasted that is
