It's not bad against the cyborgs, and makes short work of dogs while still putting the hurt on individual units (though it struggles against their heavier targets and grotesques); there are better weapons you can field against cyborgs though.
It's a piss poor weapon against the Iluminate. Sure, it makes short work of the flesh and blood units without shields, but against shields? It suffers. And the tripods are both shielded, come in packs, and seem resistant to laser fire. There are definitely other weapons you should take against the illuminate.
The Sickle's other advantages do remain though. Not having to reload and inifinite ammo are hard to pass up when running solo; plus it's not like it will ever be a terrible weapon. In larger groups though, you can start to specialise your loadout, or take ammo hungry weapons that will do a better job.
The ammo hog weapons have certain advantages that can be hard to overlook. Some of them are stupid powerful against certain enemies, or are just amazing weapons to have on you, period.
Even when running solo I usually prefer the MG-105 or one of the SMGs. Helps to take out patrols much easier. MG-105 you can just kinda spray in a direction, and voila, patrol down. The SMGs you can turn so fast, and they put out so many bullets and have mini stun, you're guarnteed to prevent the patrol from calling for help, if of course you don't out right slaughter them with the initial burst of fire. On top of it, they have AP ammo. So even if you're not dead accurate with it, it still pierces through armor, causing almost all of your hits to be much more lethal, as if you had fully centered hits. Of course if you have one bullet in the clip, the SMG reloads so fast, you won't even notice it. Plus it's nice to have an SMG in hand if you do get knocked down, or if you're carrying items, such as the black case etc. Those are just a few examples of other great weapon choices.
almost EVERYONE holds sickle!
Guess it so, but I have to point it out Sickle's overheat is not a panelty afterall cause it has no recoil
Automated powerder guns have recoil.. so it need controlled fire to shoot straight
In sickle, controlled fire gets you both reload AND cooling
I think at least it should consume Ammo when it retains crazy firepower like this
It is even stronger than plasma rifle(when shoot straight) while poor plasma has range and ammo problem
And it DOES use ammo if you end up overheating it accidentally for some reason. Changing a cooling cannister is SLOW, and if you didn't bring a resupply stratagem, you only have three total.
Yes. I use the Sycthe, because of the unlimited ammo which frees up a slot for me to use an extra stratagems. It's drawback is the overheat and it does poor damage against armor enemies.
But I am built to be self-sustain, so I won't be a burden to the team by being ammo-depedent.
Other guns do have their benefits. They can stun, pierce enemies, pen armor, or improve your melee attack. When it comes to killing group of enemies, other guns do a better job than the scythe or sickle.
To be honest, I wouldn't mind using that extra stratagem for a resupply pack to help our my ammo-dependent brothers.
no armor penetration
doesnt pass through enemies
weak firepower
try using sickle on difficulty 10 or above. its basically useless.
I disagree. It does a great job killing patrol units.
you justh ave ♥♥♥♥ control then
