AD-334 ‘Guard Dog’ - How good is it?
I'm interested in the Defender Pack, but how effective is the Guard Dog drone? Whats the engagement range of it, short or long range?

Also, is the CR-9 Suppressor any decent?

it uses an SMG so it can shoot nearby enemies in an SMG range. it doesn't move when it shoots so upgrading it is important. max upgrade gives it mini-stun and armour piercing rounds. good for solo-play.

Suppressor is good. AoE (explosive) damage and effective against illuminate/Cyborg crowds. don't shoot on close range it can kill you. lots of team-killing potential :D

Regarding the drone, how is it in team play? I never play solo since it's boring.

Its a bit obsolete in teamplay. Better take the angel drone for that imo (healing)

angel is from the support dlc pack though.

yeah guard dog is pretty much made for defending only yourself making it good for solo play.

still i'd recommend the defender pack for the suppressor and the good-looking armour suit.

I run with the guard dog on most ops for the extra firepower. If you get a team running two angles and two guard dogs it can be very helpful.

The fully upgraded Guard Dog (anti-stun, anti-armor but certainly not anti-tank) is useful in any situation imho. Most importanly, it's flying around and firing downwards, so it doesn't engage in any friendly fire afik. Defender and Support DLC packs are generally the only specific packs I recommend, if someone's not interested in the whole shebang and only wants a couple.

Guard Dog can also be handy if you're on support duty with the healing gun: you can still give some fire support while keeping things alive and repaired.

it's reach is as short as the SMG
that's the only complain I have

The defender pack is really limited in usefulness.
Mostly because almost all the drops are stationary.

The time it is useful though are Small map Kill missions. Where Barb wire and Anti Tank turret becomes insanely valuable. Otherwise in normal missions Anti Tank turret generally will never be used - though barb wire may still remain useful time to time. Though the Static charge drop is better then barbed wire for all intensive purposes.

The DLC packs that are the most useful are
Ranger Pack ( UAV )
Demotition Pack ( Satchel Charge )
Survival Pack ( all terrain boots )

especially handy when carrying a case and your pistol runs out of ammo.

I ended up getting all the packs in the end but for finding samples the UAV is good

Also in snow the all terrain boots are OP.

Sickle weapon is very nice against weak bugs
