Well as i understand it anti-tank is used for tanks and the bigger enemies as well as the bug hives, armor piercing seems to do very well against the intermidiate enemies and seems to punch through one and into the next behind them. ignore armor i think is like other RPG's it ignores armor and does all the damage the round would normally have. Armor piercing is a must on higher difficulties it seems that is if you want to take out mobs quick. Theres also unstopable they also pierce multiple enemies.

Armor piercing - Goes through light and medium-armored targets like those bugs. (Warriors & Elites and those freaking Brood Commanders)

Anti-tank - Self-explanatory, kills tank units, though on difficulty 8 above you might need 2-3 shots to take it down. eg. Cyborg Warlords

Ignore armor - Similar to anti-tank, only that it rips through everything at any side/angle, even the full armored Behemoth's front. Aim & fire regardless of what armor they're using.

RL-112 Recoilless Rifle
when full upgrade have ignore armor ability.

can kill Impaler when in normal form (don't use tentacle) ?
and
can kill Hulk when it use Shield ?
and
sometime i shoot it to Infantry Fighting Vehicle(Cybog Tank)
i need second shoot to take it down.

So, armor piercing means you can kill medium armored targets from any angle? Because even my unupgraded handgun already oneshots everything when shot in the middle. I don't really see how amor piercing would help kill things faster...

As for the recoilless rifle : sometimes I need a second shoot to kill big bugs. Maybe you DO need to aim at the head.

The Rumbler mortar from the Weapons pack is also pretty good at obliterating intermediate armor.

Just to be clear, it goes through the enemy units and shoots the units behind them as well, hence "pierce".

EDIT: Doesn't go through, just deals more dmg against armored targets.

Oh ok. Weird, since unstoppable already does that.

Yes, but adds to weapon variety, no? Ballistic guns get AP ammo, more rounds but less power while Railgun get Unstoppable with its full powerhouse damage.

One of the good reasons why Helldivers can be played with many types of stratagems/ weapons instead of relying on niche builds/one type mission weapons.

cause that's not how AP works, it doesn't go through targets, he's confusing it with unstoppable, AP just does more damage to armored targets.

Oh? I must be confused with the in-game description then which describes about it going through the targets.

Penetrator Rounds are not the same as AP rounds, they're like advance AP rounds with that effect.

try something like the peacemaker pistol with AP or the defender SMG with AP and you will see they don't punch through targets.

Ah, I see, too used to seeing AP-Ammo in the tooltip to notice that. Thx for clarification.

Ingame, Justice has both AP-ammo and Unstoppable. "Penetrator rounds" is just the name of the upgrade.

Another question : what's the best mech? Both the Walker (minigun+rockets) and the Lumberer (flamethrower+canon) seem to have both infantry and anti-tank firepower. Not sure what's the difference in terms of gameplay.
(The rockets of the Walker seem weird to aim, unlike the canon)
What's even the purpose of the Obsidian?

Funfact : with the Lumberer, left click will fire his left arm and right click his right arm, but it's reversed on the Walker. Weird.

I don't think there is a best mech, just difference in playstyle and that Lumberer and Obsidian is only from DLC, well you can say the flamethower has less range(also burns through Hulk shields) but Lumberer leans more towards anti-tank because Walker only has 8 missiles but good all-rounder nonetheless.

Obsidian is the best against Illuminates imo (no heavy tank units like Bugs and Cyborgs, but requiring alot of long ranged firepower and protection against the mind control)
