EXO-44 Walker vs EXO-48 Obsidian
So, I'm looking at the pilot pack because I love my Mini Mechs. Somebody tell me: Is the EXO-48 worth it?

I'm primarily concerned about ammunition stores. I see that the EXO-48's upgrades don't let it upgrade magazine size. To any Obsidian pilots out there, does it suffer much from that?

Also, is the lack of Anti-Tank capability all that crippling?

Thanks!

I like it but it is not as versetile as the vanilla one as it has no real AV capabilities.
It carries two autocannons with ample (if not great) ammo reserves and it chews Everything that isnt heavily armored up in a gory frenzy.
But you are helpless against the IFVs or tanks so your teammates need to back you up with proper AV.

Hope it helps, glad u like the game :)
Hmm, all righty. Thank you for your opinion!

Default one is the best....the other one has no AP and the Canon one is made out of paper

I never tried the Obsidian, but does it demolish everything besides the large tank units?

Obsidian works great on illuminates which dont require anti tank bombs, it drops thier shields and chews them up quick so you lose less ammo relatively against illuminates i beleive.
Its definitly more of a specific use mech than the original but good none the less..

Each hand auto cannon requires mashing a separate firing button. I found this completely exasperating on Vita (one cannon required a back touchpad finger swipe). :steamfacepalm: On PC maybe less so. It's ineffective against tanks, like they said.

Sometimes I wish that the Armory in the ship would allow us to jot a brief note about firearm, vehicle, stratagem to remind us when we like to use it. I know the description helps to some extent, but experience using it in game makes me want to add a note to it. :)

I run it with two rail cannon strikes sometimes that completely negate the downside of no inate AT weapons on the 48. It's a great setup because you don't need to charge up the toss to get it out there, and the upgraded railcannon strike homes in a pretty wide radius.

Hmm...very good point! That tips the scale towards me buying it, when you put it that way.

Does each arm have different magazines?

Yep, and they take a long time to go through if you shoot in short bursts.
Wow, that was fast.

And well, I'll certainly give some thought to it then! Unfortunately I don't care much for the shotgun and the Pilot suit, so basically I'd be spending $3 for just the mech. So, we'll have to see.

Yeah, that's a hard sell for 3$. The shotgun is pretty beast at close range, possibly the strongest CC weapon in the game. And its charge up shortcoming is made up with the gun drone stratagem. But it's terrible at clearing edge-of-screen pats.
The Gun Drone which is yet another $3 package XD.

The problem with the DLC is theres some good and some bad stuff in each pack IMO. Makes me glad I brought the DDE in pre-release.

Agreed.

This game is so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ good, I'd suggest to anyone to just pick up the entire package of DLC so you can try it all out. Because once you have a couple "locked in" builds for different situations it will be nice to have all the extra options to keep the game fresh.

Or at the very least play for a while, find out what you like, then wiki all the DLC and plop down 15$ for 5 of them. That will get you a substantial amount of extra toys to play with. And as long as you wiki everything before hand, you'll somewhat know what you're getting yourself into.

And if you're not a fan of reading (wtf, read a mother ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ book), here are some videos on all the DLC so you can see them in action.

Well, I -did- get this game as an early Christmas gift, so I suppose dumping a few dollars into it wouldn't hurt.
