Hello everyone!

Hopefully you all are having a great time playing Helldivers, but if you do come across any issues could you please follow these steps below.

I will keep this thread as updated as possible, so check here before posting. We also read every comment (even if we can't answer each one individually), so there is no need to create multiple seperate threads in the forums :)

How to Report

To help solve your problem we need to have this information. Use https://pastebin.com/ if there is a lot of text which you need to link to or paste, rather than multiple posts.

Crash Logs
Crash logs will be located in this path: %appdata%\Arrowhead\Helldivers\crash

Dxdiag
To get a dxdiag follow these steps:

• Press the Windows key and type dxdiag in the search box
  
• Click on dxdiag.exe
  
• When DxDiag opens, check to see if there’s a button that says Run 64-bit DxDiag. If there is click it
  
• If that button doesn’t appear, you’re on a 32-bit system.
  
• You’ll see a green progress bar in the bottom-left of the DirectX Diagnostic Tool window while the program is gathering information. When the progress bar disappears, it means your report is ready.
  
• Click Save All Information.
  
• Save the file to your desktop (make sure it’s saving as a text file) and give it a name you’ll remember.
  
• Click Exit.
  
• Paste/send us this file!

Be as detailed as possible

• Computer Specs? Gamepad?
  
• Nat Type? Port settings? Firewall?
  
• Are you playing online, offline?
  
• Multiplayer? Local coop? Singleplayer?
  
• Are you using a gamepad or keyboard and mouse?
  
• Any other relevant information?

Record videos, images and reproduction steps
These are really useful to identify a problem which is hard to describe.

Before Reporting

• Make sure you are running the latest Helldivers update
  
• Update the Steam Client
  
• Update ALL your drivers
  
• Check your firewall and ports
  
  Your firewall may be blocking Helldivers from connecting to the Campaign Backend. Make sure that any firewall in use is allowing Helldivers to perform outbound connections on port 443.
  
  You might also have to make sure that the firewall is not rejecting self-signed SSL certificates, as this is what the Campaign Backend uses.
  
  You can test it by going to https://api.helldiversgame.com/1.0/ from your computer. You should be given a warning that your connection is not private, secure, or similar. If you simply can't reach the site, either your router or ISP is blocking the traffic, probably due to the use of self signed certificates.

Update Drivers

This really helps solve quite a few common problems. Please make sure you've tried this before posting a persisting issue :)

Can't connect to others?

Make sure that you and the other players have the latest update that went out last night :)

Crashing and Freezing!

If your name has characters other than English characters, try changing your name to English characters only. See if that helps! We are still looking into other possibilities :)

Controller creates 2 Helldivers!

We need everyone's computer and OS specs for this. Update your drivers!

Can't pick up ammo!

Can you all tell us what type of controller you are using when you can't pick it up?

For the ones who cant pick up ammo in the tutorial and get a black screen when entering the galactic campaign, can you interact with NPCs? For example the bots in the tutorial and the admiral on the ship?

Game crashes with Steam controller!

We need more specs on your computer set ups!

Keyboard keys become unresponsive!

Looking into it, try turning off Auto-Refresh in the Map Gamepads menu. Might be something related to this :)

Galactic Campaign Map fades to black when pressing E

This issue is caused by having a firewall which is blocking Helldivers from connecting to the Campaign Backend. Make sure that any firewall in use is allowing Helldivers to perform outbound connections on port 443.

You might also have to make sure that the firewall is not rejecting self-signed SSL certificates, as this is what the Campaign Backend uses.

Cheaters and Hackers

Our Game Designer's comment:

"Being max level in Helldivers helps you little. However, because they are ruining the experience for others, we are taking this very seriously.

We have identified a couple of ways they are affecting the game and will be fixing it as soon as possible. For those of you who have been affected, we are looking at the possibility of adding a way to reset your upgrades and samples individually, as well as the ability to drop ranks one by one.

In essence this means that should someone make you lvl 50, you can drop levels one by one until you are back at your original level. We have no timeframe for when this will be implemented, but it is currently our highest priority."

hello, when i buy game few days ago game run great , i play all night get lvl 13 and go sleep i want play today but when i run game i only see black screen and see game mouse pointer and hear music all driver is up to date , maybe need run game in windowed mode but how i can do ?

Having issues with progress saving. Nothing has saved since the first time I've played. Everytime I come back I'm back to lvl 2 with just the first shotgun unlocked. It's weird that it saved progress once but not again, anybody have similar issues?

I wanted to play with a joystick but it had no keys binded to it in game so i binded them, but midway i acidentally binded 2 wrong keys to 1 button and now i cant reverse it because when i click reset buttons my game crashes and there is no way to just replace a button because if i put button 1 and 2 on fire it will say 1,2 = fire and there is no way to remove it unless you put it on another key but all other keys are used
Is there a way to reset the keys in another way?

Hey Dev's I got a problem. I just updated my custom rig to windows 10 and now helldivers crashes on the loadup screen. I tried compatability, I updated my drivers, and I even tried running it as an admin. No luck so far anything else you can think of?

I can't join my friends and my friends can't join my game. I have this message : " teleportation impossible : different version"

Matchmaking is always empty for me, I have nothing filtered and I keep refreshing it.

I also noticed time to time - the game just randomly disconnects.
Sometimes when I join a game - it will load. I will land on the planet, 2 seconds later it disconnects. The only thing I noticed in common in these initial disconnects is some one using voice chat as im landing.

Other times when I join my friend disconnects as I join.
This doesn't happen offten we played together for 10+ hours. Its usually resolved when I host the game and then he hosts it again.

Also noticed upon completing the mission people ocassionally get disconnected when the score screen loads.

Long story short - Disconnects happen quite often.
I am on a 50mb up / 5mb down connection. So I doubt bandwidth is a related issue.

Having the same issue here, looks like a game that you'd need old 3-D glasses to play. Don't have another monitor to try sadly.

EDIT: Have G-Sync monitor and for some reason the game switched the G-Sync setting off and when re-enabled the graphical issues went away!! :)

I have the same monitor as you, plus similar specs, but I have issues getting my game to start up fullscreen. Does yours work with no issues? lol

No issues starting up fullscreen or windowed for me. Try validating local files or check videocard drivers maybe??

Everytime I wanted to join a public game that is not full or only has one or two persons, once I got in, it is always host migrating error and then I got disconnected from steam or the servers. I have to try a lot of times on different games or host to get connected to one. Quite frustrating since the hit rate is almost 90% of the time I can't join a game. HOST is migrating...

Please help to fix the otherwise very fun game.

Hello everybody ,My keyboard becomes unresponsive after some time playing the game, can't press anything, not even Alt+tab or Alt+F4 , i have to unplug replug .

I tried playing with autorefresh off but didn't do anything.

anyone found a solution ?

hi dev,

i didnt use any 3rd party firewall and my windows firewall (domain,private,public) also turned off but the issue still happened to me. black screen loop and also empty list in MP.

let me know if u require screenshot or teamviewer for troubleshooting. happy to help ;p

edited:

1. i restarted steam in offline mode
2. launch helldivers and choose galactic campaign and it works on solo campaign. finish my first campaign.

3. restarted steam in online mode again
4. launch galactic campaign and it stuck in black loop all over again.

5. i guess im gonna play solo campaign in offline mode for a while until root cause and fix is found.

I've been having random crashing during gameplay, eitehr black screen and sound stuttering or straight to desktop with a warning box.

EDIT: I get an error box,

Fatal Error! Thi application must exit immediately.

I'm running Windows 10, with 2 R9 290s in crossfire, latest video card drivers too.
