Other than that, the Ranger pack give you a UAV, which can be upgraded to show samples on the radar. The Support pack comes with the Sickle, which is a laser-based assault rifle that deals good damage, has infinite ammo as long as you manage your trigger finger (spam click instead of holding), and perfect accuracy.
The rest is just sidegrades, alternate flavors, and cosmetics.
The Ranger with UAV will slowly lose most of its usefulness once you have all the science you need for the weapons and stratagems you like to use. They are still sometimes useful for hidden objectives but much less so. This will mostly just speed up progression.
In terms of fun I would go with the vehicles pack or weapons pack. They each give you 3 tangible items to interact with (3 vehicles or 3 weapons) all of which are completely different from each other. I would say 2 out of the 3 in each DLC are also very effective as equipment.
Support pack has Sickle. As said above, don't full-auto it just tap-fire like you would the Justice heavy assault rifle and it doesn't overheat. Terrain specialist has the all-terrain boots. On a snow planet that is the end of that argument. Ranger pack has UAV. Entrenched pack has that anti-tank manual turret, that thing is actually really awesome when fully upgraded for defense objectives, wipes patrols and armored targets out no problem with large mag and an aiming laser. Seen a guy spam those, surprised me how much it helped on a helldive and we got perfect 3 stars on a whole helldive planet partly because that made defense way easier.
Overall I'd suggest getting all DLC in the mega-pack to save a few bucks, I like a bit of everything.
But once you buy one DLC you'll want more. You might as well buy all of them in the mega pack to save money and satisfy yourself.
Best: Terrain DLC. The boots have no equivalent in game that even comes close to how "powerful" they are. Almost everything else you could get in DLC has an equivalent in the base game, but not those beautiful boots.
p.s. I'd NOT vote for the Ranger pack (for the UAV Humblebee drone which also has no base game equivalent) because someone else will almost always have one anyway.
Most Fun: Demolitionist. The C4 suitcase is a staple for me for any planet or enemy type and is so damn fun to use. The Stalwart MG is also an awesome weapon. For me it is the best main weapon versus Cyborgs, and in the top 3 best for the other 2 races. It is also very fun to use. If I had to pick only one main gun to use forevermore, this would be it.
