no need to versus, because they're different games.
But HD2 has the best explosions so it wins
HD2 has amazing graphics, which gives it a different level of immersion.
I think they are quite incomparable in gameplay terms actually. Truth is I lost my interest when I found out that HD2 will be from third person's view, but I don't think it is a bad game.
My POV - top down view and screenlock of HD1 gives you - literally - different perspective when it comes to battlefield tactics and timing of your actions. There is more definition of what is small/big - which is somewhat watered down in 3rd person view.
Most reviews of HD2 see the fun factor of HD2 in fast, loud, chaotic gameplay. If you like it, good for you. But I like more slow and tactical approach of HD1 (still, you can go full Rambo if you like).
Saying this on a old game its like comparing the performance of a Newer Graphics card to an old one saying the new is stronger.
of cource the old game have lots of stuff cuz it was in development longer than the newer game...
