If the game let us save stratagem loadouts and click/button press once to load them, my fave might be...
P.S. We have probably dozens of threads on this topic. They can't sticky everything of course, and so far the only player-focused thread stickied was the suggestions/ideas for future content/features etc. (that likely isn't happening) that I suggested last week I think.
So I'm all in favor of getting chatter going again.
Just be realistic that in a few weeks this thread will likely be on page 7 or 13 or something, long forgotten, like the umpteen other pages of threads here alas, including lots I created back in my hyperactive days after launch last December.
That's my general beef with online message board design. Threads/topics constantly fade into oblivion on buried pages nobody ever sees unless they do a keyword search and happen onto it. But if they sticky everything (see the KF2 forums for an example), then you have a page of stickied threads to try to wade through.
I don't have a solution. I guess it's how the Internet Evolved.
First of all there are specialised and universal setups. Specialized are optimized vs particular race or mission objective. Also they consider team roles (like 2 AT guys, one anti-personel heavy weapon and one for powerful airstrikes and artillery). Universal setups are more or less good for every situation (like Justice + Rumbler + Shield).
Second, there are heavy and light setups. Heavy setups consist of heavy weapon and backpack, light setups are red/green statagems only. When light teammember dies, you don't have to go back for equipment. But you have to know how to fight without heavy equipment.
And lastly nearly every setup is more or less effective, it's mostly matter of personal preference and difficulty level - for example vs illuminates setup with Trident + Bubble Shield + Stratagem Priority and 3xCAS will be much easier than to use Railgun-based setup, but Railgun will still be useful in some situations.
The trick is not only to find what suits your playstyle, but to experiment with different tactics and setups for different situations. You can set up your team for using universal setups only or specialize every teammember. You might use standard heavy setup or consider running light setup instead. There are plenty of possibilities and this what makes this game so special.
My loadout is generally:
1. Rumbler
2. Supply backpack
3. Railcannon
4. Railcannon
The rumbler is my main source of anti-tank power, holding an immense amount of power at the expense of clunky usage. Because it doesn't require a backpack slot for a support pack, I find a supply backpack is superior to a resupply strategem for me. I thought the supply pack was useless, until I realized you get 2 packs, each with 4 resupplies each. I give up infinite 2 ammo resupplies, but I do get 8 ammo resupplies on demand, and I've never run out of ammo using it.
I use different loadouts for different enemies:
Bugs: Trident
Jump-Pack(Tentacles!), Avenger (DLC), TeslaTower, TeslaTower
Cyborgs: Justice
Shield (Dogs!), Ammo, Rumbler(DLC), AT Mines/RailStrike/UAV(DLC)
or Shield, Ammo, Demolisher(DLC), Demolisher(DLC)
or Shield, Ammo, AT Mines, AT Mines - if team already has lots of AT weapons
Illuminate: Sickle(DLC)
Jump-Pack(Walls!), Ammo, Obliterator, Shredder/Napalm/ObsidianMech(DLC)/UAV(DLC)
Those are for regular missions... Retalliatory Strikes and Bosses are very different.
2: Obsidian Mech MK2
3: Ammo
4: Anything, usually support weapons
2. Tesla Tower
3. Triple Thunder Barage
4.RL-112 Recoiless
I usually play with friends or at leat some1 who understands how the recoiless weapon works and back me up with ammo recharge.
1. Resupply: I never go anywhere without this, it's a lifesaver.
2. Shredder Missile: Excellent for destroying fixed objectives, as well as wiping out hordes.
3. RL-112: With an excellent loader on hand, this is deadlier, imo, than a Rumbler.
4. Tesla Turret: Great for drawing away attackers while defending an objective or the extraction.
The setup above is effective for dealing with bugs and cyborgs. For squids, I switch out the RL-112 for an MG84, otherwise, it's the same setup.
For the rare times I have to do a Retaliation Mission, I trade in the Shredder and Tesla Turrets for AT Turrets. Otherwise, same setup once again.
-Resupply ( I like to run Breaker/Justice and I haven't upgraded any lasers yet )
-Railcannon ( Big guy killer, usually if this isn't enough something's already gone wrong )
-EAT-17 ( Used to use RL-112, which is badass, but when my playstyle shifted to moving faster I found EATs to be better in a pinch. Especially when extracting, you have one on your back and two in the field to just pick up and fire )
-SH-20/Jump Pack/Mech/Vindicator depending on my mood
None of this is DLC, I'm cheap when it comes to that.
Strategem priority in the perk slot. When I play, it rains munitions that the whole team can use.
