What's the character customization like?

Is it pretty varied or are there a set amount of looks to choose from?

I'm only 'familiar' with the deluxe version and I've only played for about 6 hours.

So far, I think I have about 15 different helmets, suits and capes.
Additionally, you can choose male or female. Though, I haven't tried this myself yet, so I do not know what visual impact this has.

There is not much difference in visual appearance between male and female. Females are a little slimmer. Voices are different though.

There is not any real character customisation. You select a uniform, helmet and cape. Thats it.

Between what you unlock through leveling and if you have all the DLC you have quite a few options for outfits.

I'll never understand why this is a concern, but your character will look different from others if you just change capes. other than that you'll never be so close to the characters to carefully observe every single detail on them. some people care about aesthetics :P it's the reason all games don't just look like pong.
