Go into big picture mode and mess with the individual game settings. I have found no universal PS4 controller setting, and I have had to manually adjust for each game accordingly. Kind of a PITA, but worth it.
Make sure PS4 controller support is checked, uncheck xbox support, and check generic gamepad support.
Check use steam configuration for non-steam controllers.
Change your touchpad to be a single button in Helldivers.
Trackpad click and touch I would make "select" which will bring up the map.
I had to set up the d pad, as well as both joysticks in big picture mode.
Both joysticks should be set to "joystick move" and LS and RS click.
I had to adjust my deadzone on the right stick a bit to get it feeling right.
Play around with the settings for Helldivers and let me know if it's working any better for you. :)
I'll give Tech's idea a shot first as i've already done Booby's ideas.
- Remove any 3rd party gamepad software, it's not needed
- Check you don't have a weirdly configured profile in Steam's settings, not the game settings.
- Disable Big Picture mode
Perfectly suited to the HELLDIVER gameplay, since it was designed for PS controllers.
I personally thought, at first, that I might need another software to connect my PS4 controller, but that just resulted in a duplicated controller and two divers with the same controller. (which was pretty funny at first)
