BTW, I finally got to test my Xbox1 controller and they do work with windows 7, had to jump online and download their drivers and was all set.
Connect controller (option not available without controller on and connected)(wireless/Bluetooth/wired is fine)
Launch steam “Big Picture”
Select library, select helldivers, select manage game, select “controller configuration”
Remap the four “dpad” buttons (bottom left box) and the “LS” analog stick (bottom center left box)
Not sure if you need to close steam, but doubt it, should work from there.
Before that I have used Xbox One controller and Xbox 360 controller and both of those work natively without issue as well. For them I have wireless USB dongle and then they work. The DS4 was more responsive (probably because not on wireless).
I think you have the older DS4 model. The new ones are the slightly more slimline ones iirc (they also have a "2" in their code on the sticker on the reverse) :)
Regardless this issue should be patched pretty soon ^_^
Glad fix for people with newer versions of DS4 is in the works
I got new DS4 just to use on computer after I found one that includes a Wireless Adapter.

It is newer model of DS4 where the lightbar can be seen on the touchpad area and it works for Helldivers on Steam without issue when connected via USB cable. I still can't read the back of it (too small print for me), so maybe there is an even newer model of DS4 that has the "2" in their code.
That said, it does have problem where it is not recognized natively by Helldivers on Steam when I try to use it wirelessly. Pressing any key just doesn't register. I bought it mainly to have a wireless DS4 to play Helldivers on Steam.
I have verified a few other games where it is working perfectly fine both wired and wireless (like Filthy Lucre).
When fixing the original reported issue, can you also have the developers put in native support for the DS4 when being used wirelessly? Thanks
I tried that. It tries to install DS4 drivers and fails. I'll just stick with using the DS4 wired for Helldivers until they make it work natively wireless.
Have already found other games where it is working fine natively even wireless. I think just a matter of Arrowhead putting in some code tweaks to recognize a wireless DS4 same as they are recognizing the wired DS4.
