I don't know if it's even possible, but maybe someone with skilled coding can take the entire game, "crack" it, change some codes and then free it from dev chains. with this and some tweak there should be a way to play it like some people play that Halo on multiplayer pc when there was no official support for it.
I mean, you can't even call it "piracy" since after 2021 you can't download it anywhere and cant play it anywhere, right?
I have no idea if Battleborn has already been cracked or is out there "sailing the seven seas", but there are largely three barriers to circumvent:
While you could consider Battleborn abandonware once the plug is pulled, that doesn't mean 2K Games (Or parent Take Two Interactive) and/or Gearbox Software will cease enforcing use of their IP.
One such example was when Electronic Arts contacted the Battlefield Revive Project due to the fact they were distributing the games' .EXE & files for the games they were reviving, even though EA had ceased selling the games & the servers were never officially restored after GameSpy shut down. While the Battlefield Revive Project decided to shutdown, other efforts to revive multiplayer for classic Battlefield games such as Battlefield 2 & 2142 that didn't include the games such as 2142 Reclamation are continuing at present, presumably without bother from EA.
But frankly speaking, I'd be genuinely surprised if Battleborn even draws such an interest from anyone willing and/or capable of going through the trouble others have gone through to give life to games such as Battleforge, Gigantic and others (I've yet to pick up word on anyone who easily remembers Super Monday Night Combat today, let-alone tried to restore it's playability after it was shutdown last year).
I recall hearing that the console versions weren't always online (They did have disc copies), but I cannot confirm if this is true or if it was, if that ever changed.
But yeah, the more you know... thanks for the infos.
