Battleborn Audio Files, for your Salvage
I'm sure the sad but unsurprising news has been received by now, but just in case: https://support.2k.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038371534
In summary; Battleborn's servers will be shut-down by January 2021, killing the game outright.
And since the game has been pulled from digital storefronts and Premium Currency will be unavailable from February 2020, I thought it might be worth bringing up the archive of Audio Files & more I kept over Battleborn's pre-launch & post-launch periods for anyone that might have liked the music, dialogue and/or any other audio from the game.

While I would like to recommend my audio extraction guide I prepared some time ago, after the October 2017 Content Update, one of the two major Audio bank files was presenting an error that prevented Riveal 11.1 (The tool I used) from extracting audio from it. While this has no impact on extracting dialogue from any voiced language (Deutsch, English, Español, Français, Italiano), it may well prevent you from completely extracting the unsold music from the game nor locate any desired SFX.

To account for this, I've made available for download all of the Battleborn audio I have extracted from the Audio files before the October 2017 Update (May 2017, which accounts for all gameplay updates including PvP modes), as well as the Bink Video files (Which includes one specifically used in the Open Beta) whose audio channels/layers can be explored/extracted with RAD Game Tools. So I'll recommend my guide, but suggest you visit the Sound Collection link I provided within:
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=678483741
While I unfortunately wasn't able to sort SFX (No file-names, but I did leave them in folders named after the audio bank they were extracted from), I was able to sort & name just about every music file as well as mostly verify their authors (Text documents with links to their sites & social media are provided), extract dialogue with file-names & sort them neatly (In all voiced languages) and keep the Bink & Bink 2 video files on hand as well (Secret Sauce Studio does have Battleborn's introduction animation for viewing on their channel). I also included the Ringtones as are still available from the official Battleborn website's downloads page (Wallpapers & cosplay references can still be found there too): https://battleborn.com/en/media/downloads/

I'm not on Reddit, so if anyone would like to share what I have with the Battleborn Subreddit or any other similar Subreddit or spot of interest, please feel free. I'd hate to see what I thought was pretty good music & often-enough entertaining voice performances go to waste.

I already wrote this on another thread but can be interesting anyway:
I don't know if it's even possible, but maybe someone with skilled coding can take the entire game, "crack" it, change some codes and then free it from dev chains. with this and some tweak there should be a way to play it like some people play that Halo on multiplayer pc when there was no official support for it.
I mean, you can't even call it "piracy" since after 2021 you can't download it anywhere and cant play it anywhere, right?

The problem that makes this impossibly difficult to crack, in order to play it after it's shut down is that most of the calculations are done server side, also meaning that you'd need to have access to the server code itself. As far as i know, at least.

I have no idea if Battleborn has already been cracked or is out there "sailing the seven seas", but there are largely three barriers to circumvent:
  • The game likely relies on the Steam client to boot (There are quite a few "DRM-Free" games on Steam that can be ran from the .exe without Steam running, but that's statistically the exception)
  • The game uses Arxan Anti-Tamper (The same DRM that Grand Theft Auto V, a few Call of Duty games & several Xbox Game Studios releases for PC such as Gears of War 4 & Age of Empires: Definitive Edition)
  • The game is always-online (The biggest one naturally).

While you could consider Battleborn abandonware once the plug is pulled, that doesn't mean 2K Games (Or parent Take Two Interactive) and/or Gearbox Software will cease enforcing use of their IP.
One such example was when Electronic Arts contacted the Battlefield Revive Project due to the fact they were distributing the games' .EXE & files for the games they were reviving, even though EA had ceased selling the games & the servers were never officially restored after GameSpy shut down. While the Battlefield Revive Project decided to shutdown, other efforts to revive multiplayer for classic Battlefield games such as Battlefield 2 & 2142 that didn't include the games such as 2142 Reclamation are continuing at present, presumably without bother from EA.

But frankly speaking, I'd be genuinely surprised if Battleborn even draws such an interest from anyone willing and/or capable of going through the trouble others have gone through to give life to games such as Battleforge, Gigantic and others (I've yet to pick up word on anyone who easily remembers Super Monday Night Combat today, let-alone tried to restore it's playability after it was shutdown last year).

I recall hearing that the console versions weren't always online (They did have disc copies), but I cannot confirm if this is true or if it was, if that ever changed.

For the TL;DR peeps: we won't be playing this game after 2021.

But yeah, the more you know... thanks for the infos.
