Why was Battleborn a massive failure in sales, player retention, and available content?

This thread is to discuss the obvious occuring with the game and what caused it.

I think gamers today expect MOBA games to be free and feel they aren't worth a upfront $60 price tag.

Game had 794 peak players yesterday... and still some are arguing it didn't flop. This has to be one of the biggest flops in a two month period I've ever seen for a AAA game.

Well just announced Evolve is going free to play. Expect the same with Battleborn, it's only a matter of time.

don't think it's gonna "save" it, both games kinda suck for playing more than couple hours, but at least it will get maybe 500-1k players more on average. Thing about Evolve that's diffrent from Battleborn is, it actually sold pretty well on PC, the game failed because of ♥♥♥♥♥♥ game mechanics, maps being too small, and generally the gameplay got old really fast, as monster you just had to run arround the map for 10 mins, same for hunters, how fun is that.

hey look ma, a cheap peasant who only plays low price/no price games and sits around sulking because he can't afford games like the rest of us... . Sorry snoodle.. but just because you can't afford Battleborn doesn't make it a bad game... As for overwatch... har har har... that game suxx... atleast you can find games though, so it has that.. Maybe i'll go wreck face with Torb just for kicks and giggles or did they nerf him finally as if the other 10 overpowered classes are any better

not worth it, Evolve owners got shafted on the f2p transition, they gave 3000 keys which take like one hour to farm, removed all the skins and progress etc. Look at the reviews, you are better off waiting for the actual transition before deciding to spend any money, nothing to lose really.

Not worth it?
Soon after Evolve went F2P I bought the PC Monster Race edition for only $15 so I unlock every character, eliminating a HUGE grindwall. All that's left is a few skins.
And I like Evolve.

Now with Battleborn, I wanted to like it. But also knew that it wouldn't really go anywhere so didn't want to waste my money on it.
So the same thing May happen with BB. Not saying it should, but if it does I could just buy the Digital Deluxe edition + First Born skinpack for let's say $15-$20 and eliminate yet another grindwall.

Seems pretty worth it to me if it means getting a lot of players, I love F2P starter packs
