Battleborn

Battleborn

İstatistiklere Bak:
Battleborn is MOBA, Overwatch is NOT a MOBA
stop comparing both games with each other, you look silly, instead inform yourself more about them.

facts for preferring BB:

1) has multiplayer and singleplayer, only multiplayer in Overwatch.

2) has a complete story for the characters, no story in Overwatch

3) new style of MOBA, Overwatch is NOT a MOBA, it's an Arena Hero Shooter.

4) more character variety, from different universes, unlike Overwatch

5) gearbox humor, the game has personality and attitude

6) no micro-transactions, Overwatch will have it.

The correct definition of moba for future use is;

"Any game where players fight over a per round currency system that is then used to progress an individual player/hero on a per round basis."

Every actual MOBA has this featuree, they have other features but they always have this.
Overwatch clearly doesn't have this, Battleborn does.

Who defined this?

The word moba was made to describe games like DOTA, LOL, SMITE etc., so basically Lane-Pushing games that have hero progression within a single match AND ai minions spawning for both sides.

This definition also involves games like Monday Night Combat or Battleborn.
Fractured Space is a gray-area because it has lanes but no ai minions.

Actually I wrote a whole dissertation on what defines game genres. MOBA's don't always share the same aspects, not all of them have multiple lanes, minions, structures, shops, or even money. But they ALL have that definition I gave "faught over currency (sometimes XP) that is used to progress an individual and is reset per round"

Minion's are not always required to define a moba. Any kind of back and for fighting for territory is enough as long as that territory rewards the owners with a form of currency.

I wrote this in another post so I will paste it here.

What actually defines a "MOBA" is a per round economy system fought over by players that allows progression of an individual player/hero. (Note RTS games like SC2 do not count as they are multiple units, there are also exceptions to this rule such as a few DOTA2 heros that have multiple units to control, but they are extreme 1 off's and not the norm for that game.)

The reason I give it this definition is because other "themes" in the MOBA genre do not appear in every game, things such as lanes, minions, neutral camps, turrets and base destruction are not always present, but a highly faught over economy system and individual progression are almost always present. Games such as HotS use XP as an economy or other objectives like skulls, LoL uses money, Battleborn uses shards, but they all fall into this MOBA genre. A game like overwatch which does not have any player progression or any kind of econemy do not.

This makes Battleborn an FPS-'MOBA'.

Neither of them are MOBA's... Both are FPS games, but Battleborn has a MOBA layout for the multiplayer, while Overwatch remains a team shooter like TF2.

For number 6..

As quoted from article on gamespot:
"That's why Battleborn has a huge variety of skins and taunts that come with the game at launch, and we will continue to release even more cosmetic customizations post-launch, some of which we will sell in-game," the publisher explained. "This kind of optional cosmetic content has absolutely no effect on the gameplay, and helps us keep all the additional heroes, modes, maps, and other features that extend the core gameplay experience, free for everyone."
this is already a lie since the season pass says you will get heroes

1- 100%

2-Overwatch Lore will not have a solid mark in the game, unlike Battleborn's.

3-This whole Moba this,Moba that trend is becoming tiring. Does it really matter?

4-I've gotta say though,Overwatch did a great job with it's different and unique character backgrounds. I find myself intrigued by Battleborn's characters more, though.

5- Gearbox humor, yes yes and hell yes! What's not to love!

6- I could be wrong, but i think that Battleborn will actually have some flashier and unique skins for sale with real money,i remember reading a post on reddit about this.

Overwatch will have transactions,it's been confirmed like you said.

I think both games have soul, but i'm loving Gearbox's direction on this one.

Listen up you ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ kids.

MOBA:

M - MULTIPLAYER
O - ONLINE
B - BATTLE
A - ARENA

Clearly Overwatch fits this description.

Do you see any acronym for minions towers or cores? Well? I'll wait point it out junior.
Hard to argue with that... Granted it is a super broad description, as games like Quake and Unreal Tourny fit into that (and overwatch) and yet differ on many levels with what the current genre defining games of DOTA and League.

I could be wrong, but i think the OP was trying to say that the games do not play the same, and that is true.
