bad performance with RX 6600
lately ive been playing Squad but im getting a really bad experience because of fps drops that come from nowhere. Its unplayable.
It doesn´t only happen when its being really demanding because of shootings or bombings.

I´ve seen other people with same specs than me that don´t have the same problem.

I tried all the settings, with AMD FSR 2 on Performance. Lowering the resolution while upscaling it. None in-game setting seems to solve it. (I tried the lowest settings possible)
Its weird that im only getting like 40-60% GPU Usage.

RX 6600 8GB VRAM GDDR 6. (AMD Software is updated)
i5 11400F.
16 GB RAM.

Does anyone know what te problem might be?

Im always using 7.9 out of the 8GB of VRAM. Might that have something to do?
Also im using 2.5 GB of VRAM while on the menu. DOnt know if thats normal...

Squad doesn't care about gpu as much unless you're playing in higher resolutions. Only way to force 100% of gpu is 2k or even 4k (i play 4k at 80fps stable currently with 100gpu usage, but drops to 50%-60 with 2k)

Cpu single core performance is what it cares about.

I used to have i5 8400 and 1060 and when upgraded cpu to i9-11900K it boosted fps by 50% (in comparison to my old i5) with same 1060 gpu. When I bought 3070 I didn't see much improvement- it allowed me to play at higher resolutions.. with same fps as lower.. that's it

so is there anything i can do to make the game run smoother? Which configs could lower the stuttering and fps drop?

Switch to dx11,
Disable all steam/nvidia overlays inluding pre-recoding (moments? Im not sure if this how it is called)

What is the lowest fps you get during firefights?

You can also try using "lossless scaling" for few $ on steam. If configured correctly it might double fps (not really but ..kinda it is). I think they have guide on their forum how to use it.

got like 30 fps for 10 seconds in a extreme intense firefigths, prolly 80 players in same spot.
But the problem is that suddenly and without reason it drops like 20 fps or freezes for a second.

That could be dx12, switch do dx11 first and lower all settings for now.

Also ... i wouldn't use dlss or any things like that in squad (unless you play in higher resolutions)

a dude on reddit just told me he doesnt have any problems, and he has the same GPU and his CPU is worse than mine. i3 1200f / i5 11400 f

Well if you referring to shuttering.. it more likely to be just configs.

But even if his cpu is older it has better single core performance

yeah, good to know honestly. But no way that makes the difference between perfectly running on 1080 on high/med to almost unplayable on 960 and lowest

something i should have started with. Havent cleaned my pc in like 1.5 or 2 years. But it doesnt get high temperatures, 185° Fahrenheit / 85° Celsius, so i dont think THAT is whats causing the problem, plus in other games i dont have same issue

This is a really crazy game... Tried Direct X11. 1080 medium settings. No AMD FSR 2.0. Looks like it was it, dont seem to have any problems anymore.

And somehow the ADS clarity to 50% runs the same FPS than 200%. Tyvm man, really appreciate it

Glad you got it sorted ;)
