They are more there for identifying a player for voip communication.
You are supposed to rely on learning about equipment, uniforms, and map reading.
A big part of this is just paying attention more. Watch where your friendlies are shooting. Use your map all the time. If there is sombody moving to the north but you can't tell who he is, look on the map. If he isn't a blue diamond, blast away. Honestly just understanding where your teammates are in relation to yourself will probably solve most of the problem.
Also, when you are trying to learn the uniforms, don't just focus on the colors. Learn the shapes.
But whatever you do, don't focus on the name tag as a way to identify friendlies. That is the whole reason you are in this mess in the first place.
When you don't type the obligatory "sry tk" in all chat (which is stupid as hell) they assume you're intentionally tk'ing and will kick you.
It's moronic, but hey.
Just avoid those servers.
I've seen a guy in a BTR TK 1 guy at a time and say "srry TK" over and over after each guy. He was gunning at a 300m range so he of course could see who he was shooting. In the end he didnt get a kick or ban because of that stupid system admins have. At the same time he was killing enemies so Admins thought he was just getting people caught in the crossfire.
Yea no.. 30+ TK's with sorry isnt gonna cut it if I was an Admin xD
Wow. Hadn't though of that. Also, I never use chat. What's the point when everyone has voice coms?
Thanks for this new info.
The F-er.
Really unnecessary though if the server has auto-kick enabled, because by the time you commit enough TKs to make it clear it's almost certainly intentional you'll get kicked anyways. Sucks for commander sometimes, but works well the rest of the time.
The admins that kick you for not apologizing in chat are just ♥♥♥♥♥ who want to feel important.
And generally when you actually have a guy TK'ing intentionally they just apologize and the admin doesn't kick them anyways cause they just didn't see it.
It's the dumbest server rule ever and you should just avoid servers where admins take it seriously.
Also, sometimes it's best not to shoot right off the bat. Close the distance to <300m before engaging. The last thing you want happening is a more skilled player engaging you in a long distance firefight and getting outgunned. If I see an enemy player >300m, I don't shoot, I get closer. Sometimes he'll lead me to his friends.
If you get 7 kills within a certain time limit. There have been games I've exceeded 7 kills, particularly when I'm laying mines, and I haven't been kicked.
up close and on foot I can tell the difference because the Canadian where a tan weapons belt around their waist and the shape of their helmets are slightly different than the Russians, who have black boots. From afar with the fog, they look similar. I posted this on the squad forums about name tag distance display:
https://forums.joinsquad.com/discussion/201/teamamte-nametag-display-not-showing-from-far-in-vehicle#latest
I rarely teamkill when I'm on foot bc it's easier to see the enemies than when you are the gunner of a vehicle bc there is this fog/haze filter when you are looking through the scope of the vehicle's turret.
I remember there was an enemy position on the map that was marked and no teammates were around it. About 30 seconds later I saw one guy in the distance but couldn't tell if he was Canadian or Russian and I fired bc I was sure it was an enemy and I just checked the map and it had enemy markers around that area. It turned out to be a teammate. I shouldn't have to check my map every time to make sure if it's an enemy or not because that could be the difference between life or death. They definitely need to improve the name tag display when you're in a vehicle, that's for sure. Some people have eye problems ex: color blindness and it doesn't make it easier.
