Does anyone at all enjoy desert maps?
So boring, just doing nothing for 20 minutes in a row.

i love dessert maps aesthetically. all of em play fine too EXCEPT talil outskirts. thats the only map i dont like. its just boring af, all flat land where you tediously inch from tiny hill to tiny hill just to die and get nowhere. every time i play that map its just a painfully slow snipefest stand off in the middle. i know theres ways to deal with it, but no one ever bothers.

90% of your playtime should be in the hangers or in the ditches between the hangers. if it isnt, something is wrong with the SLs.

It doesnt matter how barren the map is, the points will always be near buildings or key terrain

Thats what im saying. The entire game is played in that one spot. it gets old fast

That all depends on SLs like you said, sometimes you get really good ones that manage to get to hangars, and other times you spend 300 of your tickets hugging the wall, and jumping on humvees to get over it....

Probably some of my favorite maps are the desert ones.

These maps really favor the team that makes full coordination at the SL level of the "combined arms concept". Which if you don't have that going on your team, I can see how they may appear boring to the basic riflemen.

It is also one of the maps where aggression and/or super fobbing are both viable strategies.

If any match in squad is a walking simulator, your team is trash.
The fact that super fobbing is a viable strategy (on bridge, as we all know) is not at all a good thing, imo. I've never lost a match when I was defending the superfob, and the worst thing that ever happens is a lot of deaths due to vertical mortar fire....

That's exactly the reason why I tend to not like the map. When it goes right its pretty fun, but when it goes wrong it can be absolutely insufferable. Just think of how many times the match is lost within the first few seconds when the chopper pilots collide. . .
Some of the desert maps are alright but Talil Outskirts specifically is a really annoying map because its incredibly open, flat, and predictable, you've got like what, 6 places you can go to? So naturally everyone goes to the one place in the middle of the map that will pretty much always have a point (unless it goes to gas town), just depends on who gets to the hangers first and can kill the other team
Talil is one of those maps that looks cool but then realize there is no room to maneuver even with armor because of the design it has where you can neutralize half the map with a single ATGM emplacement and its a pain to shoot it down because on the position its at, as armor it sucks and as inf it sucks much more, lots of unbalanced layers, etc.

Mutaha for some reasson ppl like it but for armor its like 3 tunnels left, right and middle, sides flat open field, middle a ton of copy-paste random houses you cant even get into and thats it.

Al basrah has lots of layers and most of them are pretty unplayable or heavily unbalanced, overall considering the other two maps mentioned, this one is much better than these 2 combined.

And gas town point makes it even worse. So hard to assault.

Theres nearly nowhere to hide a hab on gas town. have a squad setup a hab in the hills to the southeast and have them push in when you drone+airstrike the hab

Ice desert. Never forget Nanisivik. That map along with OPFL/Forest were absolutely perfect. In fact, both were so good they actually had to remove them from the game because they made everything else look mediocre.
I actually loved Nanisivik. One of my favorite memories of squad was when some SL said we had to find Dr. Mann, in reference to how the map looks like that planet from Interstellar haha
Vehicles, if you cant find a SL who lets you use any, make your own squad and lead a group of logis or other vehicles
