HOWEVER I upgraded to a 5800x3d and suddenly was getting 130fps again like before (the updates that ruined performance). Clearly that cpu, which is specifically made for poorly cpu bound single threaded games, is doing a massive amount of work (though shows only 3% usage lol) in this game. That must mean something, not sure what.
Of course it just brings up the question, why do the developers keep pushing past the limits of the game? We've got to assume they know how far they can go as well as we do, if not better. Just seems like, unless they were banking on newer hardware making up the difference, they jumped the gun a bit much with the graphics overhaul earlier this year. Work within the budget you've got instead of going into debt and hoping you can make extra later, y'know?
