Game is best played with a good squad lead anyways, so if you are not hearing anyone talk or coordinate, I would switch squads or servers.
It sucks that you were kicked, but I have only had the squad leader thing happen once in almost 20 hours of game time for me. Most times your squad leader will communicate that they are going to leave the server.
Don't take the kick too personally. Whether you knew better or not you now know. This game isn't one of those games that you should be playing without a microphone. Playing this game without communicating is like playing a flight simulator without a joystick, you simply miss half the point. You getting kicked is a good thing in a sense. It means that the server that you were on takes the game seriously and enforces their rules.
It's much easier to tell your buddy in front of you that there is a bad guy running down the stairs with a knife and gonna stab him in the back, than it is to stop in the middle of whatever you are doing and type out a long message, probably getting shot in the process because you can't move and now there are two dead players when all it would have taken was a quick shout-out over coms to prevent it.
I've seen a lot of new squad players and it is awfully quiet. I never know who has a mic or not, and it is just really frustrating because you cannot relay messages and get confirmation that they even understand what you want them to do.
you can also pick another squad to join or hit caps lock and right click on someones name and give them squad lead
Also I don't think you will ever have a good time if you don't have a mic. There is no ping system here.
You get Notification on the left hand screen that "you are promoted to squad lead"
If you dont know how to SL, just talk to your squad "anyone want to be SL", then press enter right click on the name, promote to squad lead, if no one want... yeah ur screwed
I strongly recommend getting a mic, communication is very Important in this game
It will be much easier to tell if there's enemy near you or their pos with mic rather with typing, which is much slower
In my SL'ing times, its fun to coordinate with other SL's to defend, attack or flanking enemy position or just derping around in command channel
Summary: if you got secondhand SL, dont know how to lead, Press B to ask your squadmate if anyone want take leadership, if no one want, press L to all chat , just say my squad lead left, i dont know how to, generally good Admin (if there's is one) will show you the ropes, so yeah dont get discouraged, dont take it personally, just take it as another valuable experience
The server name will have something like "New player welcome" in the name. Join those. If anyone gives you sh*t, tell them its a 'new player server'. They shouldn't though, most people will actually try to help you if they know you're new.
Most likely just a ♥♥♥♥ admin I guess.
Thanks for the ideas... I might give it another try but still a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ experience they need to fix.
1 rifle
2 x magazines
and maybe not much more
I had to take over a squad today, because the SL left and put me in charge (or maybe the game did, unsure how it works), but we still won somehow. At least the squad kept moving around in some meaningful way.
The best experiences I have had were/are the ones where I start the match from the beginning and have an active squad lead. You feel like an actual squad and I typically find myself having fun and usually people are joking and playing music and just generally having a fun time.
The worst experiences I have had are the ones where I join a squad mid game on a losing team and ones where the squad lead does not try to communicate or coordinate the squad at all.
If I end up joining mid game on the losing team, I usually just pop a medic and try and find some people to heal up till the match ends, but game can get boring not having a good squad.
Hence the name of the game.
most servers i have been on kick you if you create a squad you dont intend to lead, best thing i have found is just join another server
