50% CPU 60%GPU load but struggle to get above 80FPS
Hey Guys!
In the Main menu and Spawn points I have 100%gpu load and about 120 fps at 3440x1440p. However when Im in the middle of nowhere in the map with many other players my fps drops below 80 AND my GPU load too...how? Why doesnt the game keeps the GPU load at 100% and give me more FPS?
I cant find any fixes to this. I´ve read that its CPU bottleneck BUT its not at full load either..
Help anyone?
(i7 6700k, GTX 3070)

Have same CPU with a 1070 @3440x1440 and it never has gone above 60% on any CPU Core in this game or in PS.
When my FPS drops my GPU usage is goes down but my CPU usage doesn't suddenly spike indicating my CPU being pushed to its limits bottlenecking the GPU.
Best guess would be its a bottleneck in the Code/engine much the same as how Arma3 games cannot fully leverage your Hardware although this engine clearly makes better use of Multicore CPU's.
If you type 'stats' in console (tilde key) you will get a look at Frame times, iirc the 'draw' is your CPU.

I'm running the game at 1440p standard with i7 6700k and a evga 2070 super xc with an excessive 64gb ram and my average fps is 70-80 frames in most areas sometimes higher on certain maps. In heavy smoke/fire/population areas it can dip to 60 or less. CPU usage usually is around 40% if I remember right but I'm replacing this thing the i7 6700k is just not meeting my personal needs for multitasking.
maybe join a server with 60ish players. i get more fps with fewer players on server

i got i9-9900k, 64 gb ram and a 3090 on 1440p and average 80-100 fps and only using 35% of cpu and 65% of gpu. kinda pissed that i get the hardware but game just wont use it

It certainly appears to be a problem with the Server/Engine unable to keep up with the calculations involved when a certain number of players is reached resulting in everyone connected getting slower Frame Times regardless of how many unused system resources are available.
Its far worse in PS where the performance is still worse than this while having 20 fewer players on the server over there.

80FPS is the lowest i drop to (sitting in main bases or menu screens). 144fps most of the time. Occasional drops between 90-120fps(lots of vehicles in combat zone). This is with inexpensive hardware(i5 9600k and a 1080ti). All on a 100 player server. i use to have the i7 6700k but the motherboard crapped out. The performance of the i7 6700k in this game was less than desirable for me. Menu screens in this game have always made my GPU load at 100%(still haven't optimized menu screens).

I would say it's two-fold the I7-6700k is a chokepoint for the system to an extent I know when I OC'd mine for a little while I was able to get 140hz on two of the maps with limited success where it would eventually drop back down under heavy load but at the same time the fact I could only get success on 2 maps and only temporarily shows there's optimization issues. I'll also note that there is a significant memory leak that hopefully gets better in the next update. We'll see if I still get these massive memory leaks when I make the amd switch, a friend has told me there's a problem with intel's memory management and I wonder how much that might be impacting the game.

I bought an AMD Ryzen 7, 3700x with a 3070, 500gb SSD, 64gb RAM 3600mhz this Xmas. Running the game on 1080p and I get the exact same performance you guys are describing with 2+ years old rigs using a 1080 and 2060...

ryzen 3600 and 1070ti. In 1440p i have buttery smooth 60fps even with 100 players on any map. It is locked by me because i have 60hz monitor (remember: for smooth gameplay if your monitor can't GSync or VRR then your fps always should be 1:1 or 1:2 or 2:1 multiple to refresh rate.
My optimized settings with good look and feel: https://ibb.co/NCC4p3V
I checked every setting for perfomance and feel. Trust me, this is you best you can. I played without motion blyr and turning looks unpleasant so i enabled it too. Now game feels very smooth like BF or CSGO. Increase supersampling if you have better gpu, do not touch other settings. And remember: DISABLE fully load textres because it gives only problems\stutter and nothing other.

i have a i7 8700k @ 4.3 ghz, 32gb ram and a msi 3080 gaming x trio and its the same for me, 50-60 gpu usage and doesn't usually go over 80 fps in the middle of a map, but training grounds i get consistent 120-140 fps, game is so poorly optimised it pisses me off

engine limitations, DIRECT X11 LIMITATIONS. at the end of the day DX11 is still very single thread limited. Nature of current game development until someone makes a breakthrough here, then we will see player counts across all sorts of games in the future increase!

Thats why i didn't buy a 3070 or 80 yet (and well, yes, price and availability too of course), but in most games (unless you play in 4k) its simply overkill and will not be utilised much.

Yes, you wouldn't see an improvement here, you would however see improvement in more mainstream "AAA" kind of titles that have lower player counts, more emphasis on visuals etc where the CPU isn't so much the limiting factor. Especially some of these new games like DOOM running on Vulkan they really let your GPU free to run!

That makes sense to me, CPU is the limiting factor in this specific game (especially with your setup at 1080p no less!), your 3070 is not getting to stretch it's legs. (3800x user here, it was on sale for same price as 3700x in my defense lol) on Zen 2 we don't really have a single thread advantage over their couple year old intel chips, add in the latency impact when leaving the cores on cluster 1 to access cluster 2 (which has been addressed in Zen 3) and it makes sense you're getting about the same.

Also friendly reminder make sure your ram is actually running it's profile. Zen 2 is totally crippled by DDR4 at stock speed/timings, its crazy.
