Claiming system

Don't you hate when you claim a vehicle, then proceed to get inside, an another edgy squad come and claim it ? So you end into the passenger sit and they just boot you out when they enter the vehicle ?

Literally twice in a row me and my friends lose the claim of a vehicle because of this. First was a battle tank we waited for, we drove our Warrior back to base, waited a few minutes for it to spawn, while the other squad just suicide theirs so they can spawn at main, my crewmember get to the tank, I approve, and while they were entering it, the other squad came after them, claim the tank and we all got booted out. Second time is during the next map, we want to grab a BRDM, we claim it, and the micro second before we get inside, a squad come from behind and claim it, we also get booted out once the other squad and his friends gets inside.

Make sure that you have priority due to name claiming. Just about every server out there probably has a rule saying that the person with the correctly named squad gets priority of the vehicle.

You must be leaving out some details... another squad can't claim a vehicle once you're inside.

that's the thing, they are claiming it during those few seconds we are spending getting inside the vehicle

Yes, and watching people wasting time counter claiming one another in spawn is annoying. I hope the system is fixed at some point

Tell me about it, I once saw two people having a claim battle over a Spandrel for like 20 minutes. We had time to go set a few FOB, fight over a few flags, when I look at the map, they are still at it at our main base with the vehicle having a rave party and keep changing squad claim every two mili seconds

Another fun moment of a real problem devs could solve that gets pushed off to admins.

Many solutions for this have been tossed around, but devs apparently find this to be a non issue.

Examples:
1) A simple timer that locks the vehicle to a squad upon claiming, just enough time to allow them to get into the vehicle. Roughly 15 seconds would make all the difference.

2) Commander can unlock/lock vehicle access for squads

3) Squad leaders can choose vehicles they plan to use and access is divided up just like specialist kits (if there are only 2 ifv's then the first two squad leaders to check the box get the access)

That is what I have been thinking as well ! A timer would the best solution to prevent claim wars at mainbase.

I am sadly living in the pacific and have access to only a handful of servers with good pings and they have that "first arrived first served" policy, the other server have a naming convention rules but it's easily abused by certain people.

or just be the guy who gets the claim then u dont have an issue. if u know how they doing it then u dont have a problem

There is a very simple solution to this and many other problems in Squad. Give the Commander actual power over the match. First off, make it mandatory that a Commander is chosen at the beginning of the match or vehicles can't even be taken out of main. Secondly, once there is a Commander depending on the map there will be premade squad templates like Infantry, Armor and Heli. Accordingly, instead of starting a squad you will pick the S/L role in the template and then others will join you. Then the Commander will approve your vehicle claim. Along with this the Commander will also be able to not only demote you but also remove you from your squad. This is the whole point of having a chain of command in the game because at this point the Commander role has no teeth and is simply a glorified JTAC.

Tell me you wisdom bigs, I am sure you are used to steal someone else vehicle after they claimed it, while they are interacting with it and trying to get inside after the claim

You still have a problem. Two players can claim over the other when entering, resulting in an endless struggle for the vehicle claim as it gets tossed back and forth until someone gives up

most ifv u cant 1 man anyway so just while ur claiming have ur guy get in then its all about who gets last tag and i do this all the time and lose vics to this all the time without complaint. harden up u know it happens so know how to counter it

As long as nobody is inside the vehicle, it is still claimable. My problem is that unless we go tryhards and have one crewmember going in, while the other crewmember and I just smash their keyboard to keep the claim, then hope our crewmember get's in before the other squad, and hope that we get the last claim while inside. That's stupid as ♥♥♥♥
