Squad

I have a 4090 and a 14900K but still get significant FPS drops from ADS with the PiP scopes. Is that normal?
I run triple 32" monitors with Nvidia surround if that makes a difference. I have all gfx settings maxed along with DLSS "Quality" setting and the game runs buttery smooth. That is, until I look through a scope, and I drop down to like 15-20 fps, which makes aiming virtually impossible.

With this hardware, surely there is something I'm missing here? Anyone else fix this issue?

I used to get no fps drops from PiP scopes with my older, worse pc, still with most settings turned all the way up. Why would better hardware = worse performance? I'm wondering if its maybe an issue with using a super-wide FOV and resolution.

Yeah... Spend almost half a million (in my country) to buy a computer and play with FPS drop. Well done devs, you are the best!

Hey for anyone who finds this thread, I found the solution. Switching the game resolution away from the custom resolution generated by Nvidia surround (7805x1440) back to 1600x900 has fixed the problem. Despite the lower resolution setting, the game looks exactly the same as it did at 7805x1440 on my triples No distortion or image quality loss, and now there is no noticeable fps drop upon ADS. So something with the custom resolution was the problem.

Also damn, what an unhelpful forum, Lmao.

Hey, try using the Geforce app it will give you the best settings for your pc and screen. also trying checking the screen FPS if its capped or if its not keep the max FPS you can.

I had to stop playing squad because amount of blurr, stuttering and fps drops makes me feel same IRL after one round, so I cant event walk to kitchen without feeling stuttering.

I didn't hear any real feedback from people in my clan that has decent performance. Few people who said that everything works great and they have 200 FPS was lying :D

Yes, this is a useless forum
Yes with every patch there is a significant portion of users who have terrible stuttering.
Yes they should really have figured this out considering the game started development in 2016.

I pretty much give up.

Drops to 15-20 fps with that hardware ? Thats indeed not normal.

Try clearing cache (ingame, settings, bottom right) and maybe also try to re-validate files via steam.
ThunderPaw Mar 5, 2024 @ 6:15am
I have the same setup and this does not happen to me. There's something else going on. May need to reformat your rig or update BIOS, Chipset, Full Reinstall Video Drivers, and do a RAM scan. I would say you've got some kind of Hardware or Driver issue here.

This is assuming you've cleared the game cache in settings and of course verified files.

The game runs extremely smoothly with this setup especially with DLSS.

Correction, i have the 13900KS and the 4090, so my driver could be more stable.

Im not saying all is fine and probably noone will have 150 fps with any Unreal 4 game regardless of specs, but not everyone has stutter and fps drops to 15-20, i don't.

I have a slightly weaker CPU than you (5800X) with RTX4070 and my fps are between 70 and 90 in 1440p max settings (depending on the map too, Skorpo is worst, there i barely have 70 and even sometimes below 60 in heavy action).

Optimization could be better (some maps perform quite well now, others don't) and general performance is lackluster i guess mainly because of engine limitation and OWI cramming simply too many systems into that engine. They should upgrade to Unreal 5.

But when you have drops to 15-20 fps then its something on your end. Thats not normal. In 99 % of cases clearing ingame cache should fix this.
