Always open map, but smaller - any way to do that ?

So, sometimes when i play medic i dont notice that there are friendlies in need of a medic a bit further somewhere. I have to open map to see if anyone needs help.

Is there a way to have the map open, but without it taking up 50% of the screen ?

pretty sure they do have two different size maps i use tab for the smaller map.
