My only problem with the update is close quarters engagement with a 4x (or greater) optic. It's basically impossible to ADS in close quarters while taking fire when using a 4x. With a 1x-2x sight it's not really a problem at all. So you have to rely on spray and pray hip fire when engaging close quarters with a 4x optic, or switch to pistol.

This feels broken. Hip fire is now pray and spray even with full stamina and steady alignment. That doesn't seem realistic at all. Maybe for the insurgent or irregular militia it's realistic... but it seems like trained soldiers know how to shoot even if they're looking over the top of their optic and not through it.

DayZ has an amazing mechanic that would correct this issue. To ADS you tap right click. To hold your weapon at a ready position without looking through the optic, you hold right click. As you release right click it drops back down to hip fire. While holding right click you're aiming your weapon, and so there's more accuracy than spray and pray hip fire, but it's still challenging as you have to know where to point your weapon. It makes clearing rooms and coming around corners far more fluid and (not sure about this, but) realistic... Basically it's the 2nd of 3 options, between ADS and spray and pray hip fire.

It's hard to believe that trained soldiers would spray and pray with noodle arms when in close quarters even if they're using a 4x optic. The DayZ mechanic seems far more realistic. It's also a really smooth mechanic that feels great.

I will say this... I now prefer a 1-2x optic with a fore grip. It's awesome, and you have binoculars so you can still see long range. I NEVER used these kits before the update. Now I use them almost exclusively. I'd rather win short range fights than experience the noodle arms fiasco of trying to aim with a 4x at close range.

Also... I now sprint a lot less... and get my stamina up before popping up.. which is really cool. This has made the game feel great, and with this change from DayZ.. it would be really amazing.
