It is an SPG which is slightly buffed.
all my testing I came to the same conclusion. It shoots like a laser beam out to about 400 meters then there starts to be a drop and then anything over 1250 meters the projectile just sort of fizzles out and despawns from the game. My expectation would be something similar to the hell cannon where you have a long hang time and trajectory and reach out to at least 2000 meters but thats simply not the case.
So what? How is that even relevant to the conversation? My point they put in this alleged "field gun" which is so completely nerfed that its utterly useless within the context of the game. Honestly, you'd be better off dropping an ammo crate for your LAT/HAT than wasting time/effort into placing a static weapon emplacement like this.
In real life the ZIS-3 has a range over 13,000 meters which would be approximately the distance across three Yehorivka maps placed side by side. In contrast the Squad ZIS-3 has a range of around 1250 meters. Add to that the fact that you when you max out the elevation to shoot it over a hill for example the round simply despawns from the gamespace after 1250 irregardless.
This is just a big disappointment and it shouldn't even be in the game.
