Dx11 vs Dx12
I was wondering what performance do you get on Dx11, and Dx12, what do you guys prefer? I had serious fps drops on Dx12, so I switched to Dx11, it's not perfect but at least there are no drops. I really thought that I would get better performance out of my pc, it's not great but I thought I would get better fps. My setup is ryzen 5600, rx 6650 xt oc, b450m gaming, 16gb 3600mhz, NVMe, 1080p. Please free to share your setup and fps. Best of luck people.

DX12 stutters for me, DX11 is smooth.
Ryzen 5900X
Nvidia 3080
32Gb RAM
M2 SSD
1440p

Almost all maxed out, shadows on medium I get 100FPS average in a full night playing.

Thank you for your feedback. I also figured that the shadows are heavy consumer. Also do you reduce AA to high?

Yea shadows tank performance and I don't see any difference between medium or high.

AA is maxed, 16x

4080, amd 7950 and ddr5 32gb. I have the same FPS. BUT! With dx12 I have freezes every 10-15 minutes.

Fully maxed out and it's very smooth using DX 12. I'm getting 100+ FPS.

Same config and everything smooth on ultra. I guess CPU, or your RIG SW/config problem

spending that amount of money to run a game with graphics that are not that good anyway, only to get 100+fps. that's bad devs in my opinion

I would appreciate if you would name some of the settings you made to your system, win or bios, maybe you could help me out. Thanks in advance...

in squad dx12 is so poorly developed its not useable at all. dont even bother to try it. it will remain like that for a long time. just go with dx11 and be aware that squad has critical bugs that drop fps. its not your rig its the game. dont get fooled by individuals like radegast. he goes into every thread harassing other people with nonsensical advice. same applies to maki nishikino. these guys have zero clue.

optimize your ram with ryzen dram calc, thats all you really need. everything else you can leave on default: keep your bios updated, load optimized defaults from bios, then just optimize your ram with the values you get from ryzen dram clac or load its xmp profile.

exactly that. extremely poor development on the one side and users that are completely desensitized and detached from reality on the other.

Thank you for the tips, I allready have my ram set to the xmp profile, I only have one which is 3600. With dx11 game runs much better, no crazy drops, no drops when using scope.

RTX 2060, Ryzen 3600, 16GB RAM.

I spent a lot of time trying to tweak settings to get the game to run at a solid 60 without drops. Even at 1080p mostly medium settings I still got drops here and there, and the game just generally felt sluggish. Seemed odd considering the graphical quality of this game. Saw some suggestions to try DX11, figured worth a try and maybe I'd get an extra 5 frames. Instead it's like a completely different game. Running 1440p, high settings except shadows, smooth 60, moving/aiming feels more fluid. It's quite drastic.

IMO DX11 should just be the default setting until DX12 is improved. Granted this is just my experience, but with how often I see it suggested clearly it isn't just me.

Easy question, hard to answer. Its settimg of RAM in bios, same with CPU. Its background APP in OS, its if you clear registry from time to time, are you usimg CCleaner (or similiar) to remove SW?

Most important you find always some bottleneck. Nobody cares fir MB for example.

What can i tell you? PC is like his owner. I play from SEGA console and 386, problem to solve is always what your OS is doing, drivers... When i see YT channels, it seems to me that now everybody cares more about LED Colours.

Start with service manager what service runs while you open the game. Most MB SW should clear VRAM, close some app) when runing game. Check SW starting automatically by getting to Windows.

By the way, RIG spects are pretty good for gaming and not overkill price.

I don't think the dude specifically built his setup just to run Squad lol. I have as 4080 maxed out at 4k and it runs 100+ fps.
