this just leads to nobody talking, trust me. This does nothing for the game, it will not add anything interesting and if anything will just make my ears bleed as the enemy team screams at me in local the entire time WHILE I'm trying to hear my teamates in local and squadchat
people will just use external programs to talk to eachother, local chat like this does not work in this type of game in any reasonable context. Removing the ability for people to work together in this game will be a death knell, as it's BARELY a priority to stay with your squad 90% of the time, hence maps being covered in solo players making maneuvering or doing anything a nightmare
exactly? nobody will use local voice chat, it just won't be bothered with 90% of the time and people will talk in their squad chat which will magically be silent for the enemy? if local chat is implemented it will be used to troll 99% of the time, really don't feel like doing the Rising Storm/Red Orchestra thing of having 30 nerds pretending to be vietcong saying "GO HOME GI" 10000000 times like it's still funny
and like someone already said, we had it, they got rid of it.
This game has never had this feature, but in the alpha some people were asking for this (mostly trolls pubescent teenagers with high levels of toxicity) and the answer was always a big NO. And tbh I'm glad the developers never included it.
are you sure??? I swear it was implemented when I first started playing and then was gone... maybe it was just people telling me it existed and I didn't know any better?.. huh
It really doesn't, you're not going to know who you're talking to on the other team 90% of the time. I almost instantly muted the proximity VOIP in Warzone because of how annoying listening to 8 people talk was while I was trying to listen to literally anything else. There's already too much over-communication and people talking about ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ on Squad comms (even I do that a lot), having a whole layer of VOIP just to talk to the enemies or "listen in on them" is barely going to add anything to the game of substance, nobody is going to relay a battle plan to a blueberry which you then use to your advantage, that's just not happening, it's a fantasy scenario.
The ONE thing they could do which I miss from PR was the trashtalking the enemy at the end, it was always really funny and since the community in PR was a little more mature it wasn't ALWAYS just 50 people screaming into a mic till the map changed
Having the ability to hear the enemy actually would improve gameplay and would add tons of fun. You mention warzone which is a world beyond squad voip. The whole point of the SQUAD is communication, having the ability to also communicate with the enemy brings a new layer of tactical usage of mics and noises. How are you not seeing this?
I have been around since the October 2015 alpha, and this game has never had this feature, it has been requested several times, but never integrated, not only because of the toxicity it would generate but also because of the points mentioned by @Vyllis
I can see how it would be a mess with this many players though.
it would be, it's already a ear-cluster-♥♥♥♥ when your whole squad is trying to communicate things and there's 4 blueberries in local screaming at eachother, I do not want or need the enemy to add another layer of voices.
go play Tarkov or HELL go play the DnD playtest if you want VOIP shenanigans and screaming slurs at eachother in ye olde internet fashion, I really don't want it in Squad.. it's not what the game remotely 'needs' lol
