do i really have to verify my files every update???

the game (((notoriously))) runs godawfully every update it gets. 60-70 frames on any map is now 40-50. and verifying my files takes about 30-60 minutes for such a fat 60 gigabyte game (btw gta4 is 15 gb)

If you play with Mods then it can happen yes. If you don't play with mods then something is causing your files to become modified and require re-verification. The Cloud sync status *might* also cause a re-verification to take place if the synchronise fails, this particular one needs more testing though to say for sure.
