VRAM problem
Hello, I had always dreamed about playing a squad but I did not have money to buy a new PC. Then I made extra money and bought a laptop with hardware that was suffiecient at that time. So I bought a Squad. Then the update came in and my 4GB Vram is not enough. Please SQUAD dev. team, I kindly ask you to optimalize the game. It is the best game on the market but I just can not play it after one significant "update" and I think I am not alone. I know i should buy a PC station, but it would be just a waste of money cuz I am traveling A LOT. Thank you.
Comunity, is there any way to fix the problem with textures and graphics even with my low VRAM? Thank you.

Best I can do is a twerk emote.

Have you tried checking "uncap texture poolsize" in the graphics settings? That may work, but in my experience it only works temporarily. I was in a similar situation as you, I tried all of the fixes suggested, clearing the cache, toggling the uncap texture poolsize, and reinstalling. Unfortunately, nothing ever solved the problem. I ended up upgrading my GPU with Squad being one of the reasons to do so.

If uncap texture poolsize does not work you can look into an external GPU for your laptop. They don't seem to be very cost efficient though and sadly you'd be better off getting a new laptop.

I have 3GB of VRAM and when my textures smooth i set it on high and then back on low, its work while you dont restart the game, then do it again.

Besides restricting texture pool size, you can try:
- lowering texture detail in settings;
- checking "low-quality terrain" or whatever it is;
- disabling tesselation (very minor difference if at all, but might help).

Other than these, restarting every 2-3 matches would prevent crashing. I've played with a 2GB card for some time last year (before 3.0, obviously), these did the trick.

Thank you all for advices, I tried all kinds of texture poolsize options etc. It was horrible, but I just found a reddit with advice about deleting cache and it worked! But still I appeal on developers if they see this to fix it and optimalize it better. It is really the best game on market but the 3.0 update was 5 step back in terms of optimalization

I run a 3060 ti GPU with my graphical settings all to epic, VSync and GPU occlusion turned on, shadows set to high and no contact shadows, no tessellation and capped texture pool size at 3 GB. The only time my GPU crashes with Squad (or Post Scriptum) is when there are less that 30 GB available on my C drive. I have no idea why my SSD space is affecting the GPU's performance but I'm not a CS major: maybe someone here knows?

Forgot to mention that I figured out the FOV has a major impact on performance so I leave that value at 90 (the minimum) and bumped my resolution scale to 105%. I had tried 100 FOV with 100% RS and lost around 10-15 FPS across all maps
