You guys are all acting pathetic and senseless
They're not adding Fortnite dances to the game. They are not selling custom skins like Insurgency: Sandstorm did.

They're adding some cheap and simple emotes like hand signals to further fund their development. They've done a lot to keep the game going and freshly developed with more big updates than most studios do these days.

That being said for the niche community this game belongs to, it's extremely hard to make money. This is where it's time to chill out and just accept they need some small recurring revenue to keep this whole thing afloat.

**REMINDER**: Keep in mind your niche tactical shooter community has very few games in it, let alone ones like Squad that were really well developed. The Squad community erupting over small hand emotes is a great example of why we're left with no games in this genre. Absolutely pathetic.

To me that's a plus - means they're prioritizing the right stuff.
I'm sold already, just awaiting their instructions for how to donate through Steam.

But I'll invite you to rethink:

Tbh judging the game based on graphics right now in this stage of development is beyond stupid. And plus, since when does Squad look bad? The levels are barren of props, sure, but that's because of the player count and optimization. And like this video shows, the finished parts of Harsh Doorstep do really look great for UE4.
Yup, my thoughts as well. It actually looks a lot like pre-1.0 Squad, which was still fun as hell.

I was at the point of considering Ravenfield anyway. XD

Game looks great. Love the distant sound fx.

The problem is that it's a slippery slope. While in most cases that term is a fallacy, there's so much precedent set by both triple-A and indie studios that predatory monetization is now a guarantee rather than a hypothetical.

You want to talk about predatory practices in the video game industry look no further than Microsoft buying Activision/Blizzard or all the acquisitions of the Embracer group. You shouldn't be sore that Tencent got to this franchise first. People will sellout for anything. Just look at Metallica they sold out after Master of Puppets while Slayer stayed the course.

Why do you feel the need to defend a multi-billion dollar corporation that would rather see you dead than alive? Furthermore you clearly don't understand how the CCP or communism in general works, any company located within China operates according to what the government tells them, while Chinese companies do need to follow the western laws, they still collect mass amounts of unrestricted data through legal loopholes and exploitation of our legal system. This data is then uploaded directly to the CCP upon request for any reason per China's data collection laws. These companies are 100% all supporting the CCP and their actions. Supporting Tencent is effectively funding genocide and communist tyranny, because that's how communism works, everything goes to the government, and the citizens get nothing in return except more oppression.

By giving your data to the CCP by playing any game associated with Tencent, you are
1. Directly funding the CCP and their actions through bulk data selling.
2. Giving them unlimited access to a majority of your personal info including things like age, browsing history, and general location.
3. Giving them a much better insight on how to exploit the middle and lower classes of the western world using media.
4. Giving them access to your possible career choices and opinions on communism and the CCP, it's actually more likely than not that they have a majority of you already programmed into their database, I would not be surprised if folders are automatically created once enough information on a single person is gained. This is especially damning if you work anywhere near the government like I do. TikTok has just been recently banned in 20+ U.S. states for this exact reason.
5. Funding their conquest and monopoly of the western markets, giving them extreme power in the case of WW3 or any similar anti-Chinese conflict. If you stand for this corporate colonialism, then it'll slowly infect every facet of American and western life like they've already been trying so desperately to do, and just like that you've been a great little pawn for the communist party.

we can legally audit tech companies here and supoena their records and the data they collect

china uses technology as a weapon and points it at the western world

♥♥♥♥ china
♥♥♥♥ owi
♥♥♥♥ tencent

What? You don't like China’s social credit system?
You can bet the bank that if they spy and rank their own citizens through internet usage that they are certainly making a list with all the data of the companies they are investing in. Everything you say and type in Squad is being recorded and archived for future CCP use. All they need is one unique identifier to link you as a person to everything they've ever collected.

I would hardly refer to Squad as a franchise, nor a franchise that would be desirable by anyone as something that could be considered profitable.

Big tech executives are dragged in front of Congress every month to answer for a range of different things. If we the people really wanted it, we could just elect a Congress to end what ever practice at any time. Power to the people.

Try doing that with the CCP.

Squad has sold 3 million copies, with an average 11k players this month. Hardly niche.

Copypasta? I wrote it myself. Did you even read my point either? These people are defending the actions of the Chinese corporation known as "Tencent" who actively go out of their way to ruin games with tons of MTX, I was responding to those defenders. So in essence, you're now arguing for the side that you're supposedly against, good job.

You replied to a guy that pointed out how awful Microsoft buying Activision/Blizzard is. I'm arguing for the side of "don't be a schizo to random people that are on your side just because you're upset." You know, like you're doing now. Take your pills, nobody is out to get you.
