I was at the point of considering Ravenfield anyway. XD
Game looks great. Love the distant sound fx.
You want to talk about predatory practices in the video game industry look no further than Microsoft buying Activision/Blizzard or all the acquisitions of the Embracer group. You shouldn't be sore that Tencent got to this franchise first. People will sellout for anything. Just look at Metallica they sold out after Master of Puppets while Slayer stayed the course.
By giving your data to the CCP by playing any game associated with Tencent, you are
1. Directly funding the CCP and their actions through bulk data selling.
2. Giving them unlimited access to a majority of your personal info including things like age, browsing history, and general location.
3. Giving them a much better insight on how to exploit the middle and lower classes of the western world using media.
4. Giving them access to your possible career choices and opinions on communism and the CCP, it's actually more likely than not that they have a majority of you already programmed into their database, I would not be surprised if folders are automatically created once enough information on a single person is gained. This is especially damning if you work anywhere near the government like I do. TikTok has just been recently banned in 20+ U.S. states for this exact reason.
5. Funding their conquest and monopoly of the western markets, giving them extreme power in the case of WW3 or any similar anti-Chinese conflict. If you stand for this corporate colonialism, then it'll slowly infect every facet of American and western life like they've already been trying so desperately to do, and just like that you've been a great little pawn for the communist party.
What? You don't like China’s social credit system?
You can bet the bank that if they spy and rank their own citizens through internet usage that they are certainly making a list with all the data of the companies they are investing in. Everything you say and type in Squad is being recorded and archived for future CCP use. All they need is one unique identifier to link you as a person to everything they've ever collected.
I would hardly refer to Squad as a franchise, nor a franchise that would be desirable by anyone as something that could be considered profitable.
Incidentally, I agree to your other points as well.
Big tech executives are dragged in front of Congress every month to answer for a range of different things. If we the people really wanted it, we could just elect a Congress to end what ever practice at any time. Power to the people.
Try doing that with the CCP.
Squad has sold 3 million copies, with an average 11k players this month. Hardly niche.
