Weapon Muzzle Clearance issue.
I have done a search for this so hope I am not duplicating this thread.

There appears to be an issue with muzzle clearance.

On multiple occasions I have had an issue where by I have sighted a target and opened fire only to be hitting the wall whilst crouched, leaning or just standing next to it etc or I will be hitting the dirt in front of me whilst prone. I have seen other players also hit walls/ dirt then heard their frustrations on this matter so I don't think it is something limited to only me, hence the discussion.

"The rifle must point naturally at the target without any undue physical effort" "Sight alignment and sight picture must be correct." For these two of the four marksmanship principles to be correct the weapon must be supported in a comfortable position for the shooter and point at the target specifically including the end that goes bang and the weapons optics/ iron sights must be aligned and pointed at the target. I cannot understand how any soldier worthy of the title would sight his weapon and forget to move the muzzle to also be clear of obstructions.

After noticing this clearance problem I tried to allow for this issue by over exaggerating my extent, stepping out further, crawling further past the lip of risen ground etc although obviously as a "fix" I am just making myself an easy target and so often I am downed because of it. I had sighted two targets the other day and I was prone on a small inclination, I could see them crouched there, I pointed my weapon with a clear view, fired four to five rounds and noticed I was hitting the dirt. They were still there unaware. I crawled forward maybe half a metre past the lip of the hill and they instantly took a disliking to me being there and downed me. Probably because that half a metre brought me head and shoulders above the brow of the hill. The fact I could see them meant I was already at least clearing the brow so I should have had an easy target and revenge for my squad mates but it was almost like my weapon was still pointed into the hillside.

If anyone has a solution please let me know.

In Rising Storm 2 when the player is crouching behind cover that is just barely too high to fire over normally when aiming, then it just automatically makes you aim over the cover when holding aim. RS2 also has a dynamic weapon resting feature that decreases weapon sway when aiming and the gun is up against cover or resting on cover. The Red Orchestra/ Rising Storm series has always had good weapon mechanics IMO

It's just one of several janky problems of squad. It's not intuitive for players to compensate for this, because we're only able to apply a visual sense of what is happening in game. I shoot walls all the damn time, and like you, I now just expose myself completely to avoid it.

This is bang on the money Bulbman and is a perfect example of how to go about it, I have also played Rising Storm 2 and this would be the best way to solve this issue and is more combat effective.

MaDeuce I am glad to hear I am not the only one who solves this issue by exposing myself, hopefully as time goes on a feature like Bulbman suggested will be implemented.

all rifle barrels in squad are 6 feet long so get used to not being able to fire from 90% of hills from prone or if anything is 50 feet in front of your weapon.
