Indeed, astute observation Aegmar :). A good vehicle crew will always have an upper hand, no matter what Armor they find themselves in. Unfortunately, the two Abrams, did not use their weapon stabilisation to their advantage, firing on the move. Probably because the crew are not experience enough, most likely, rookies tend to freeze up, as soon as they spot a target.
I’m not sure if they were in the same squad, however they are found in the same location, so they must have communicated to one another our location at some point.
However, when you find yourself in the open like that, it all goes very fast, especially if you score critical hits on Abrams, you can do 50% damage in just to 2 rounds of fire, in some cases one shot an Abrams.
In tank warfare, positioning is everything.
In that situation, a tip to my Abrams comrades, would be to disengage the entrenched target, and fall back, with the front to the enemy, smoke up.
What made them lose 40 points, 6 crew points, plus 10 points for mrap and 2 crew points. in total 58 points, most likely. misplaced overconfidence, by the two Abrams, -“Pff… this T-72, don’t have a chance against two Abrams.”
Once locked in battle, the last surviving Abrams, was after regaining some of that lost, pride.
Revenge, gave the Abram crew tunnel vision, dead in the water, at that point the battle was over.
When fighting tank on tank, it’s the enemy crew you are fighting and not the Armor itself.
If Abrams were committed to the fight, they should have used dunes for cover, stay mobile, one Abram to pin down enemy, the other to flank weak points. But at that stage, our Kornets would have picked them off at the hangers, or we would have relocated, drawing them deeper into the trap.
