Servers not showing up on in game server browser
Today for no obvious reason at all the in game server browser was only listing a few servers, nothing has changed on my end (drivers, updates etc) I went through the process of applying the 'known fixes' for servers not showing and still the issue remained.
So this might be obvious to the more experienced Squad player/ Steam user but you can find and join Squad servers directly through the Steam client (View>Servers, then at the bottom of the server page under 'Game' select Squad), you should now see all the Squad servers. This method is all good for finding the 'missing servers' from the in game server browser, however with the majority of people relying on the in game browser it isn't really going to help populate your favourite server unless others use this method.

TL;DR
Can't find your regular or favourite server, use Steam's server browser.

Man thanks for posting this. I have the same problem for quite a while now. I was checkin' on the usual suspects as well. Not really a solution though.

Two things:

  1. Can you have a look at your Squad logs? You find them under 'C:\Users\YOUR_USERNAME\AppData\Local\SquadGame\Saved\Logs'
    In mine I find
[2020.01.21-20.05.34:967][738]LogOnlineSession: Warning: STEAM: Failed to respond IP:97.107.191.51 [2020.01.21-20.05.35:073][752]LogOnlineSession: Warning: STEAM: Failed to respond IP:99.52.75.0
quite a lot. Apparently it's not possible for me to connect to certain servers.

  2. Believe me, I tried a lot of fixes. What may have helped a bit (more servers show up eventually, still some are missing and list is loaded slowly):
Port Forwarding, specifically
  • UDP remote port 27000--27100
  • UDP remote port 4380
as described in Steam Portfowarding .

I actually suspected the new (of course trashy) modem router my ISP issued to me as culprit. Which ISP and connection do you have? I have an Austrian ISP and use cable.

I did some research and suspected the device to have the Intel Puma 6 Bug .

Anyway I'm not really sure what's going on. Only thing I know is that it sucks!

Thanks for replying, interesting; after searching through the log I too had 'LogOnlineSession: Warning: STEAM: Failed to respond IP' at the time. My UK ISP is pretty bad (but cheap) I also use a 3rd party router rather than the one provided by the ISP.
I'm not sure if it's a port forwarding issue (although I appreciate you mentioning it) as later on in the day, once again for no obvious reason my regular servers showed up in the in game browser.
So yeah, I'm not really sure what's going on either; but it sucks when you have to jump through hoops just to play on your regular server.

Especially when trying to play with friends and a friend can't find a certain server so he tries to join off of you trough steam friends. But you simply get the message that you cant join it because the server is full, instead of putting you in the queue.

Why are basic things like this never taken into consideration? Can't be that Fing hard to do.
Yeah it is annoying, especially if you're just trying to fit in a couple of games before having to do something.

Yeah well the port forwarding also didn't change too much for me after all. The list populates still unusually slow. But at least eventually all (I think) servers show up. Not ideal but I can live with that for now.

Furthermore the pings shown seem normal again as well. Cause they were unusually high also.

Let's see how it goes.

Could someone explain how to use the " Steam client (View>Servers, then at the bottom of the server page under 'Game' select Squad) "? I'm befuddled on how to start playing that way
Hunerdolla Oct 1, 2023 @ 3:45pm
likely due to a vpn thats how i fixed it... if you have norton security it can default to an auto vpn which removes a lot of servers as options or just wont load them at all

so turn off vpn
