When playing in an infantry squad on the ground moving short distances EVERYONE was together. Just like when playing with Arma clans. Line, echelon or V formation with 5-10 meters of spacing. Nobody gave up early. Targets were called clearly with bearing and approximate range. No squad leaders yelling PUSH BRO PUSH BRO JUST PUSH BRO with no clear indication as to where to PUSH BRO. No talking trash about snipers being useless JUST PICK AK BRO BEST GUN BRO. 10 minutes later we are all getting destroyed by an enemy sniper.
I also remember these massive forts with machine gun emplacements and technicals (on the insurgent side) to hold objectives. I haven't seen a single fort anywhere nowadays. On either team.
I want to go back. Should have played this more during early access. Didn't expect the game to turn into the cancer it is nowadays.
PR is lacking a succestor and old community lacks new PR.
Sorry for my czenglish.
Behold my average squad leader.
The kind of stupid you're talking about only exists because a lot of players simply don't know what to do or how to properly play the game by working together as a team, and in my experience there are simply not enough halfway decent SLs to make up for this inexperience half the time. This game has a pretty steep learning curve and requires actual strategy to win, and the best way for the average player to learn is by following more experienced players' examples.
People in this thread are reminiscing about the good old days of early Squad, but the reason early Squad didn't suffer as much from this issue (in my opinion) is because a ton of those players came from Project Reality and already had a solid grasp on the unique team-focused gameplay Squad was built around. There's a LOT of players in Squad nowadays who don't have that foundation and struggle with said learning curve without quality guidance from players who understand the game.
I miss the good old days where each squads will be assigned to certain parts of the map and the rest are coordinating like providing heli/logistic support along with mechanized or armor support if a certain sector is being overrun. Right now once they get killed they no longer bother to fight back or push sadly.
Someone said that it wasn't such a big deal on Squad.
Well, it is exactly the same.. I totally agree with Radegast.
Sociopaths galore..
You can probably blame the shroud fanbase for that in early to mid 2021. Other content creators at least stressed teamplay more than shroud did. He kinda just shot at random things and laughed alot.
