This has been an off and off issue for me for years. No real explanation for it. Recently past month or so no issues for me. The only workarounds I have found was to exit game and actually restart your PC. Or you can try and exit the game......go to your sound devices, ie headphone and/or mic and disable your device(s) then re-enable that sometimes works also.

step 1, open steam friends and chat - settings --> voice , and make sure the correct mic/ headset is selected, then do a mic test, you should hear yourself through audio

step 2 - in squad settings , go to audio and make sure the same mic/headset is selected, and then restart game,

if neither of these work go into windows settings and make sure the microphone is allowed ( windows updates like to turn mic off)

have you checked the audio selections in squad?

You basically are forced to set up your audio/mic BEFORE you start the game client. Can't be done afterwards afaik.

Never fiddle with, or even look at the windows microphone settings, WHILE the game client is running. It cuts the audio. I suspect related to anti cheat software or bad programming.

Also, don't unplug or re-plug your mic/headset, or afaik you will have to re-start the game client to get the mic working again.

I haven't tested this much, but that is my current understanding of mic issues.

windows desktop, right click volume icon in lower right.
open sound settings
click recording tab
check your mic is set up and enabled
un-enable anything ur not using.
[optional - click hear yourself button in properties, mess with gain and mic vol]
apply/save
start your game
check audio settings.
good luck.
