GPU: Nvidia 1080
CPU: Ryzen 5 1600
Ram: 8GB
Game is installed on SSD

U need better cpu and 16 gb ram

But i have 8 gb and use mem reduct. My fps ~60-100 on normal-high settings (on bad maps some freezes, but mem reduct fixed it)

i3 9100f
1650 SUPER
8 GB RAM
on HDD

Did you clear your Squad user data cache sometime recently ? Mostly it doesn't do anything but in some cases it has resolved issues. You can do so ingame in the settings, can't hurt.

Anyways, 16 GB RAM and a faster cpu always help in Squad, but your 1600x is a 6 core with 4 Ghz Turbo and your gpu is of course pretty beefy, so judging from your hardware i would suspect its worth clearing cache and maybe verify files over steam.

Forget settings, those will mostly only affect gpu load and have little noticeable effect on your system with mediocre cpu and strong gpu.

I already verified and cleared the cache but no effect :/

sry for my english, im russian)

Mem Reduct clear ur RAM memory
For example, ur ram have 1 gb free space with started Squad, this programm clear ur RAM and u have >5GB free space

It will automatic, u can switch percent loading in settings

Is your 8GB of ram installed in a single channel? That's the only way I could explain fps that low with specs like these.

This game is incredibly CPU heavy, it will utilize 100% of my ryzen 7 5800x, I have a 2070 super which will run at 80-100%, along side 64gb ram and installed on m.2 ssd. I keep most of my settings on the low end playing at 2560x1440. My FPS averages 100-120 with a high end of 140hz and a recently I've noticed some lower frames on certain maps so something has caused some tanking with the rates lately.

Interesting, I am also on 1440p, everything on med-high and my lowly Ryzen 3600 doesn't go over 70% in general..

All of this is whitewash... Game is extremely poorly optimized and it's caused by underutilization/not proper utilization of CPU that bottlenecks GPU.

Devs absolutely refuse to answer and to acknowledge this problems which drives me to conclusion that they might do it intentionally. I will make another thread about it soon.

I the meantime check this thread on their forum and poor answers from devs.

I mentioned before that Hell Let Loose, very similar game which always get 100 players was working well and always utilized CPU and GPU fine before 20.12.2020 same as Squad before V1.0 in 09.2020.

It's not Unreal Engine or "few lines of code". This looks like intentional de-optimization as devs absolutely refuse to acknowledge this issue, burying their heads in the sand.

And yes simple optimization to direct x12 would help as this engine was created to optimize information exchange between CPU and GPU.

There are 2 options in this case.

1. Devs are too amateur to even think about optimizing the game and according to (minimum effort, maximum profit) rule they just want to sell as much copies before game collapse. Number of players still decreasing.

2. They took a lot of money from Intel and AMD to de-optimize game to passively force people but new hardware and cynically pretend that nothing happens.

anyways..., however it may be, it doesn't look like we should expect any large performance improvements in the near future i guess.

I really would like to but I'm affraid you will not.

Then they can expect lot of topics about it in near future, I promise 😁

Guess i should make an account there as well..., would love to ask the dev's if they could imagine to do something in the direction of a new renderer and Vulkan API, since this seems to have the potential to be a really big breakthrough in performance when the render thread doesn't strangulate the whole system....so far i was under the impression that it was not possible on the technical side to split those, but in theory it seems it actually is.

Of course they gonna keep ignore it until it will escalate to bigger thread. Then they will send someone or community manager will start replying from second account to close thread, as always.

When you really want to bring something to the Dev's attention i guess Reddit and their Discord would be the best approach..., pretty sure the steam forum threads are mostly below their radar.

Nah I think they know very well who and what is writing here on Steam, they just mad cause they can't downvote it to make it disappear like on reddit or overwrite by tasked claqueurs like on discord.

They know people looking for real informations on steam cause it's not censored and mad cause it's out of thier propaganda control.

No one expect them to answer, as you can see they don't even reply on thier own forum.

I expect them to take actions. I believe that will : D

I noticed yesterday my ram wasn't clocked correctly so that could be why, I haven't retested yet but there hasn't been any performance improvements overall anyway likely due to my 64gb of ram being more than enough for any task I throw at it. Looks like I'm at 32% on Tallil Outskirts but it's a pretty barren map vs the cities like falujah. I could also have been thinking of my old cpu that was at 100% I've been a very busy person lately XD That said moving from an I7 6700k to a ryzen 7 5800x still netted a 20 average gain which is very significant and my old i7 was definitely maxed.
