No point-shooting? That is unrealistic.
In real life soldiers are trained in point shooting, this is also used in speed shooting competitions. It is when you shoot without looking down the iron sights. humans (soldiers even more-so) have a surprising ability to hit targets accurately without the use of iron sights.

But games like this and rising storm vietnam 100% absolutely do not allow for this. And i find that unrealistic. Their attempt to be more realistic has attempted in a system that is actually far less realistic. You simply always have to use your iron sights to get kills in these games. And thats not how warfare works.

Its easier to aim in real life and hit targets with a rifle than it is in video games. Thats just a fact. So the least you can do is lock the weapon to the center of the screen so we can point-shoot with at least some degree of accuracy. So in a sad way i actually find call of duty more realistic in that regard

sadly i uninstalled squad pretty much instantly when i saw that the guns wave around the screen like an unsecured banana. It's just not realistic. Soldiers have a center point with their body/mind/rifle. We need a centerpoint in shooters for them to be realistic.

You shouldnt have to ALWAYS use your iron sights. Thats just not realistic.

People just automatically see how the gun isnt fixed to the center and say "oh wow this is realistic" but is it? What game can more accurately represent how a soldier can move and shoot in real life? Sadly i believe it is cod.

I tried to aim at a doorknob while indoors (without using iron sights) and my bullet hit the ceiling. In real life i would be able to hit that doorknob without iron sights with no trouble at all. So is this game realistic?

i agree with you 100%, no body armor and no accurate shooting mechanics make this game inferior to tarkov in every way when it comes to gunfighting. unless theres some mechanics touched up INF gameplay will take a backseat when all the vehicles are in the game. it will simply be pointless to use anything but mechanized INF and support assets like mortars while INF will be reduced to a couple dudes running in to secure the point you just bombed to ♥♥♥♥

I concur.

I was in the military, Army Cav Scout and went to nasty places. You are drunk. Point shooting when that was trained like a bazillion years ago way before my time and was more like shouldering the weapon and using it more like a shotgun which is called something like reactive shooting (I dont remember since I am not 60 years old). Shooting from the hip can be done IRL, but when that was trained by the US Army in like ww2 it was with pistols at under 5 yards. Firing from the HIP is hollywood and mall ninja stuff. The guy with his/her weapon at the low or high ready is going to own your crazy butt doing that Jihad crap. Anyone with like an M68 or eotech is going to be on target laying lead down dropping bodies while hip firing spraying idiot is gonna be all over the place.

Should hip firing be sort of viable in game? Ya. at like in your face ranges. Sure some trick shooters can do real well doing this on static targets under no stress but why on earth would you be trying this stuff past 10 meters? Just shoulder your damned weapon and do what works.

Technically point shooting is in the game. The weapon is always shouldered and at the ready when firing out of ADS. You can shoot pretty accurate with it, with a little practice.

I was a soldier and I did not have training in point shooting

I'm pretty sure it'd get you a rifle but to the helmet for wasting bullets.

This is what point shooting looks like in the US Army, https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/d/d3/US_Navy_080910-N-0373Q-070_Petty_Officer_1st_Class_Jason_Null%2C_assigned_to_Explosive_Ordnance_Disposal_Mobile_Unit_%28EOD_MU%29_12_practices_reflexive_firing_during_a_periodic_weapons_assessment.jpg

The US Army isn't taught point fire their taught reflexive firing. So OP has no ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ clue what he's even talking about.

Point aim is typically taught for pistols.
Point shooting has multiple names and forms/variation; It's known as reactive shooting, reflex shooting, instinctive shooting etc Just depends what your military calls it.

Utilizing your weapon to accurately engage a threat, in close proximity without the need of using your iron sights or issued optic -- In such situations as urban clearance, like compound or room clearing.

I just tried it the first shot is like dead center of the screen. I'm new to the game but it appears to be fairly easily done.

You can put a piece of tape in the middle of your screen if you need help in your point to shoot.

lol ive had a dry erase marker dot on my monitor for years. Every time i clean my monitor with windex then play games without it.. It feels like im missing something.

There are so many games that temporarily hide the crosshair (kingdom come deliverance hides it when you draw your arrow)

Whats cool about the dry-erase marker dot. Is that every single first person shooter or third person game NO MATTER WHAT lines up perfectly to where the dot is. Basically what im saying is all games share the same center-point. So the dot comes in use on every single game

To draw the dot on just aim down your sight in any shooter. Or google "1920x1080 center screen". Save the picture. Fullscreen it. Then draw the dot on. Trust me you will never go back.

Here is a picture of my monitor

im not saying the game is bad, i just want to offer my opinion on why this weapon-sway that is intended to be realistic might not be as realistic as the devs think

No, that's not a fact. I'm not trying to be a ♥♥♥♥, but have you ever fired a gun before (real life)?

benelli guy doesn't use iron sights he just eyeballs the clay disks, he even shoots his gun behind his back

and the discs are so close together, never destroying two at once. So its not just lucky buckshot the guy is a magician

I know it's off topic, but I'd advise not using Windex, unless it's specifically labeled as a screen cleaning solution, as it can damage your monitor screen

Hip fire. If you got a ACOG or a KASHTAN it takes longer to ADS than it does with a red dot or iron sight.

If I go acog on say logar valley, when I am in the town I just hip fire then ADS if I need to correct my aim.

really? too late now ive used it probably 100 times on this monitor lol. It is a glass ips display (no antiglare treatment at all) which is why it looks so sleek and sexy

I hate the weapon sway from suppression because it turns on the moment the enemy clicks his mouse. It's made marksman horrible to play and LMG kinda o.p.

You can just hip fire with a lmg in the general direction of the enemy and still suppress them, although you aren't firing short suppressive bursts like how suppression works in real life.

im not a big fan of supression in games, its another attempt at being realistic that doesn't quite work. Who are they to assume every soldier would turn into a jittering mess under duress?

Soldiers are badass, I've seen videos where soldiers will sit there calling out targets calm as hell while rounds hit right next to them or right above their helmet. I've watched a lot of war clips on liveleak

I think if there were bullets coming at me, yes id be ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ my pants, but id pick a moment carefully where i would hold my breath, stand up, and force myself to be calm for a second while i decided who i wanted to shoot in the neck.

Maybe at least do some real world tests to see if soldiers aim JITTERS when bullets are flying in their direction? Because i find it hard to believe every man would just lose it

Oh, if the screen is literally glass than that's why. Generally computer screens don't have an exterior glass layer, so glass cleaner slowly eats through them or seeps through the bottom and up into the screen causing damage, and so forth
